I was heading to work and got handed a sample from their storefront doorway, then led inside to see Truffoire's other products upclose. I interrupted the seller and told him I didn't want to be rude, because I needed to be at work in 15 mins. He said he wouldn't take long to show me their full line of products. While explaining about their cleansers, creams and serums, he applied select ones onto my forearms, forehead and under one eye, then began saying in astonishment how great my skin looked with whatever products he applied. I could see slight visible improvements to what was placed under my eye but not to my forehead or my forearm. I had asked which product he put under my eye, but seller was talking over my questions and I didn't want to keep on interrupting him since I didn't want to be late for work. He then lined up all products he used on me and said it would normally cost about $1200 for the package but that they were having a 50% discount/promo because of some dermatology convention going on in the city. (I Googled and couldn't find any such convention going on in San Francisco at the time.) I said I needed to go so I wouldn't be late for work but said I would return later that evening so I could get a better understanding of the products he rattled off and decide which ones I would like to try and purchase. I am a current user of premium skin products and I don't mind paying for what I know will benefit my skin.

However, as I was getting up to leave, he blocked me and whispered, "Let me see if I can do something for you." He then said if I bought the Black Truffle Renewal cream he could give me the White Truffle eye creamand serum for free if I would "promise" to use Truffoire consistently and tell people that I was using it if my friends saw the improvement to my skin. I said I always share with others what I use when anyone asks. So he said he would put me on "his VIP list" so I can get the Renewal cream at half price and the two other items for free. I still didn't fully understand product ingredients and their efficacy so he said he would leave instructions for me to pick up after my work, but because he was going to be gone when I got back, I should just buy the product now and return later for the instructions.

While at work, I tried looking on Truffoire's website for better explanations to what I was told to buy (and given for "free") and it looked like I didn't get the best guidance from the seller. It left me feeling like he just wanted to sell something instead of give me the best combination of products so I would get the maximum benefits from using Truffoire. (On their website, it is suggested to use the Black Truffle Reinforcing Serum the next day to maximize results of using the Black Truffle Renewal cream and the seller never even mentioned this serum!) So after work, I returned to the store and spoke with the manager since the seller was gone for the day. I showed her the unopened products, including the mini sample handed at the storefront doorway and my charge card receipt. She informed me they couldn't do refunds and proceeds to show me a small sign behind the counter and at the bottom of my itemized receipt - which I realized was not given to me before I walked out of the store! The manager said the products are "medical grade" and although she trusts me, she cannot be sure where the products have been and cannot be sure if they may have gotten compromised! But she could do an exchange for another product. Before I could explain my frustration/confusion with what her seller told me to buy and see what I could exchange that would be better suited for me, she started offering me another free product and a free facial! Just like her seller, she didn't listen to my questions, tried flooding me with compliments and repeatedly pointed out I was "getting a great deal" getting the Renewal cream for half price and now three items for free. I have bought skin products from licensed aestheticians and have not been given this kind of run around!

After several attempts at explaining why I wanted a refund, then trying to get an exchange instead, the manager had the gall to have me try the Volcanic Truffle Collection because, based on my skin needs, this was the "foundation" for getting my skin in better shape. So why didn't the seller earlier that day just offer this to me in the first place?! Now that I am looking at the instructions stapled to my itemized receipt, I'm noticing they are not the same as the directions on the Truffoire website! This is not just confusing but upsetting! It makes me wonder how much of what the seller told me was accurate or true. It is very unfortunate that what looks like a promising skin product line is tainted and trashed by store representatives that do not have the client's best interest at heart. This is why I am writing this complaint as I have lost all faith, specifically with the Truffoire representatives at the SF store on Market St.
