Ultimate Power Sales ripoff- deceptive company Sugar Hill Georgia

Looks like Ultimate Power Sales has made it to Southern California. A cute teenage girl stopped by my house last night - with inspriational enthusiasm - saying she was part of the local high school (POWAY HS) honor society and they were earning points toward a trip to Europe. She was sooo excited she could hardly speak. I was a little suspicious but I listened to her spiel.

She said she lives right around the corner and she's fairly new to the neighborhood (I just moved in 2 months ago myself). She wasn't selling magizines - just sponsorships - promising 60% of my donation to the charity of my choice and the remaining to the school honor society. She said she wasn't sure about the company so she did some research on the internet and found them to be reputable. As proof she showed me a page that had been Xeroxed so many times it was a mess. (SHE did the research... uh huh).

The receipts she used were from Ultimate Power Sales. She told me those were the only receipts they had and they were using them to collect these donations. She told me one copy goes to the Principal. She tried to get me to sign one on top of another that was blank. I asked her why that was and she said something about combining my donation with someone elses. I said well you won't mind then if I write "Void" over this blank area where you would write in a magazine purchase then? "Oh, No Ma'am, that's fine, I understand".

She was very sweet- but I gave her cash- didn't want a check floating around. I figured I wasn't sure enough that she was dishonest to turn her away- but for $10 it was not big loss.

I looked for the address where she said she lives- and it's non-existent. Now that I've had a chance to do the research I know I wouldn't have given her the money. Too many things just didn't add up.
