Universal Gas And Electric He try to get me to sign a five year contract with no informaton Southfield Michigan

A man came to my door today telling me he his name (Albert Contreras) and that he was from Universal Gas & Electric. He wanted to see my gas bill to see if I was qualified for a cheaper gas rate by his company. He said that with the ongoing price of natural gas that his company will keep our gas bill at a steady 1.049/Ccf. I not knowing all of what that means. I was a little confused, he asked for my gas bill and I went to get It hesitantly.

I gave it to him and he looks at it and notices that the bill was payed on time and says" Yup this qualifys you". I said qualifys me for what? He says the same line over again. "With the rising natural gas prices blah blah blah...... He ask me my name since my name wasnt on the bill, but my girlfriends was. He says " I can just put you down as a spouse. I tell him basically I dont want to be taken for an idiot. There is always a catch to these things. He says, "were a big company" He asks, "do you have internet? just look us up".

He than askes me to sign an agreement for 5 years, with an X checked off saying i have recieved and read and understand the terms an Conditions. I told him that I need some information on what Im signing before I sign it. He says after I sign I will get info. I told him that I would like to have some info so my girlfriend and I can look it over. He tells me to look us up online and rips up the paper and gives it to me. (my question is why so secretive?) Why must I sign a contract I dont have any information on. He looked nice , but be acted a little nervous. After he left I looked up the company online and to my surprise, there on the rip off report hmmmm...
