Universal Gas And Electric Misleding Honest American Families And Getting Away With It Southfield Michigan

During the end of October and the begining of November I was hounded by several sales people from Universal Gas ans Electric. They made it a point to come to my home 5 to 6 times until they got what they wanted.

I am a young, single, working mother of three living pay check to pay check right now. I try to be economical and save as much money as I can. The last time someone came to my door I accually gave them a little time to explain what they were about.

I was told they were a company trying to help the american people save money on high heating costs. I was told that if I decided to enter into this program Universal Gas and Electric would help to save me hundreds of dollars on heating costs by providing me gas at a fixed rate. I was apprehensive but reassured that at any time I could with draw from this program with no problems and go back to my regular service at my regular rate. I agreed to enter into this program.

Terrible idea. First of all, the contract I signed gave me 30 days to cancel. But I never got my paperwork until my 30 day period was up. Then in that paperwork it stated that I would be responsible for paying a $250 early terminaton fee if I decided to cancel after the 30 day period.

I have just recieved my first bill with Universal included and it has GREATLY increased in amount. Now I cannot get out of this contract that was supposed to be so easy for me to cancel. The rep. seemed to be so trusting and thoughtful to my financial hardships but realistically they were screwing me over. Me and hundreds of other americans.

I hope a class action suit will be brought against this decieving and lying company and they will be made to take responsability for what they have done to so many families! Like getting by isnt hard enough right now. We sure dont need a wolf in sheeps clothing making it harder!
