Enrollment counselors will HOUND you until you enroll by making you think they are really interested in helping further your education. Don't be fooled by this. They read off of a script taped next to their phone. I know this because I've seen the scripts on several desks. However I saw them way too late. They manipulate their words to get you to enroll by offering grants and scholarships, "Oh and just choose one of these lenders for the classes that arent covered by the grants." Short end of the stick is close to $40,000 later with a degree and NO knowledge of anything.
I enrolled in the Business/Accounting program. They basically fast track the classes so you are cramming in as much as you can in those 5 weeks. For accounting, fast tracking classes is NOT the way to go. I emailed my advisers and supervisors letting them know not only mine but my classmates frustrations on how we were not understanding material. The response was "ok, we'll have our staff come into the class to review the instructor and the material." NEVER done!
I wasted 4 years only to gain a degree without learning and now have incurred debt I cannot afford. DO NOT believe them when they act like they care about your future. If they really cared, they'd let you know that UOP is a big ripoff preying on people that don't know any better. Class action lawsuit is what they need. Why should people pay for something
they didn't receive???

Office of Dispute Management?

That office is a total joke! I emailed them over a month ago about a concern and they never replied. I see you are the only one trying to help here, but UOP should be shut down!

Please don't sit back waiting for anyone to contact you. Once they get your signature and money, they have no need to deal with you. Class action lawsuit for misrepresentation and misleading information is what they need.

I am in no way defending UofP. In fact, my comment had nothing to do with them. What I was trying to point out to the OP and other interested readers is that the student should always thoroughly check out a school before enrolling.
JIU may be a better school than UofP. I dont know anything about it other than what I read on their website and in the accreditation documents. However, the comments above would be more than enough to make me think twice about attending JIU.

If you were unhappy with the course work, why complete the courses for the 4-year degree? What makes you think you're not qualified for any job in the accounting field? What type of job were you expecting to get after graduation?

Being on notice is not a bad thing. it means that the accreditation process is moving along and that we are doing everything requested to meet the new accreditation standards. I notice that you failed to mention all the lawsuits Uofp has paid in the last 5 yrs (over 80 mil to date) and all the states that have UofP and it's parent company under investigation. If you do your research you will see their are good schools and bad ones and we are not one of the bad ones. We have a higher graduation rate and a higher retention rate as well and have never been sued or investigated for fraudulent practices like UofP and other schools. Since you feel the need to defend this school are your defending all on line schools or just U of P?

Don't throw stones at glass houses

Yes, Jones has been placed on notice but if you read the notice you will see it is small housekeeping things that need to be straightened out. As you notice we do not have nearly the complaints that U of P does and have had our accreditation since 1999 and we were the first on line school to do so. I recommend that you check out our accreditation and you will see that we are a very reputable school. As for U of P please research them and you will see that they have been fighting lawsuits and investigations for the last 5 yrs +.

I am not saying that Jones International University is right for everyone and as a private institution unlike U of P we are more selective with our students. I am asking you to look at both schools before making a decision. And as for Jeanski - Buffalo (USA) how come I only seeing you defend this school and none of the other ones? We have nothing to hide here so feel free to check us out and see the difference between JIU and everyone else.

In regards to the posting from "iwanttohelp", be advised that JIU is ON NOTICE from their accrediting body:
"On June 23-24, 2011, the Higher Learning Commission continued the accreditation of Jones
International University but placed it on Notice, which indicates that the institution is pursuing a
course of action that, if continued, could lead it to be out of compliance with one or more of the
Criteria for Accreditation and Core Components."
Students considering an online school should ALWAYS perform due diligence and review the school's accreditation status.

First off let me start by telling you to look into U of P a little bit more and you will see where the parent company owns other schools besides this one and are under investigation by the justice Dept and congress concerning fraud and other things. On lins schools do serve a great purpose but you need to investigate them in deatail. I work for Jones International University and unlike UofP and other schools we are a private online school and we do look into our students and their acidemic hisotry a lot more than most. School is about learning and making your life better. Not just being a number to a school. Call me and we can discuss our options and if you check us out you will see we are one of the top schools in the country.

Formal grievance? Really? I sent emails, made phone calls while I was attending letting counselors/supervisors/etc. know how I felt. If UOP was going to "help" me in any way, it would've already by done. They got paid, thats all that matters to them.
