This for the most part is true. However. The person responding to this is making what appears to be a threatening comment. You can not tell someone that they need to do what they are told or go to another school. Here is the deal. The student is the customer not the school the student is required to pay for this whatever the means may be. They have the right to know what is going on at all times and be timely informed. Not to do this is a violation and is reportable to the department of education as well as the loan provider and the federal aid department. If this is a problem or the school takes affence to a student/ customer wanting more information or being well informed, then it is obvious that there practices are questionable. My suggestion is that when you plan on attending school or are even thinking about it contact those school via phone or online and request transcipts Reputable schools do not charge for these. you then have your sealed transcripts that you can then send into the school.

Although there are two sides to every story, I'll base my response from what I've read here from your side.

First of all, the FAFSA is the Dept. of Education's free financial aid application for part time and full time students. You mentioned "taking a few business classes." What does that mean exactly, and why would you fill out a FAFSA if you werent' going for a degree? Or were you planning to?

Secondly, what the advisors told you was correct; however, i see their error in not explaining things in terminology the layman or -woman would understand clearly. I think the disconnect came from this.

Here is what you should know: first of all, don't give up just because you don't get what you want exactly when you want it. The time required to send off for your official transcripts from your previous schools takes about 2 weeks to be replied to by those schools. We do this for you as a courtesy and a service when you fill out an application to become a student. When the transcripts arrive they go into a queue that usually takes a couple of weeks to be evaluated due to the thousands of requests we get a week/month. Total turnover time for you to have your credits come in and be applied, or "matriculated," is about 4 or 5 weeks depending on how quickly your previous schools respond.

Solutions: you can request them yourself and fax them in for an "unofficial evaluation" that will give you an answer with about 95% accuracy (which is probably why Mr. Lucca gave you the number he did), so you know what to expect. Or, you can wait patiently like most other students do until they matriculate. Does this make sense?

Just because the advisors didn't have a complete answer doesn't mean they aren't inept. It means they don't have the complete answer YET. These things take a little time.

The out-of-pocket expenses are because you applied on your FAFSA as a full-time student and had us schedule you as a full-time student. Whatever you do, don't make false statements to the government...that's a felony. So decide if you want to get in line with the rest of the new students and do things the way they are outlined, or go to another school.

Stop feeling like you're entitled to immediate results and throwing a fit.
