Hello my name is Amy and I'm from Gloucester City,NJ and I went to UOP this summer I was trying to get my masters in education. I've for the last 7 years had this ambitiuos dream of being a teacher for elementary school children. I figured since I had 2 young kids and no sitter It make more sense economically for me to do it at home. I saw the commericals on tv for it and I thought why not? So I signed up and took some classes Well when I got onto the MTE 506 class I went away for a little visiting family and went to Ava's 2nd bday party and it threw me off completely Okay so I emailed this teacher like TWICE about it (It wasn't like oh I didn't forget or anything) and what do you know the teacher flunks me for supposedly being late and not " following directions" I tried to explain this to the fiance guy and my academic advisor Mark and they all of the sudden turned cold and were like well you can retake the course for $1200 or even if you pass it and go onto the next one your gpa will never catch up on time I was so mad you think that if they didn't want to lose a student they would do whatever it took to kept them it was like they just dropped me off Now I"m trying to figure out my next move so that I don't wind up being a stay at home mom the rest of my life living in regret

Don't go to this school they don't want to help

Selfish...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Sorry if this sounds rough on you but you are being very selfish.

While I am not a big fan of UOP.  Just read some of their other more valid complaints and you will see why.   But even they have standards.   When you are in school you are making a commitment that you will complete the assignments and papers when due.  It wasn't like you were in the hospital or had some family emergency.  You went away to go to a 2nd Birthday party.

People who seek higher education have to make decisions between study and things such a vacations.  If you can do both..great.  But if you can't do both it is totally on you for any consequences.  It would be unfair to the others in your class if you think you should get a special exception when you fail to meet deadlines.

If you take anything away from this, be glad that it happened now where you can take this as a learning experience.  Because imagine you did something like this when you were teaching.  Where let's say you just didn't show up to work for a couple of days.

You would most likely be fired.  Oh, you say that you wouldn't do something like that because you know you are supposed to be at work.   Well that just proves the point, because if you treated this class in the same way and with the same importance you wouldn't be in this situation.

I'm not a big supporter of UofP or any other online proprietary school, but in all fairness I'm not sure there is a rip off here.  These schools run on accelerated terms, so missing even a week of school is like missing two or more weeks at a traditional semester-based school.

So, how much class did you miss? How many assignments?  In regards to your GPA, the repeated course would typically replace the flunked course in the computation of your GPA.  Did you ask your advisor about this?

Also, you would probably benefit from taking another English class.  Your ability to articulate the issues doesn't really sound like someone with a college degree, and certainly not like that of someone who should be teaching young children.
