This is a warning to any customers or potential customers of US Bank. This bank is one the worst banks I have ever encountered. I know this is long , but please bear with me.

US Bank tricks people into opening accounts with them. Then they rob you blind when you least expect it. They hide behind something called the five star service guarantee. This guarantee basically states that if US Bank screws you over, and you can prove it to them they will give you a whole $5.00. A total insult to someone intelligence.

Now for my story, I started banking with US Bank about 2 years ago. In this time period I have had at least three major problems with this bank. The first was right after I opened the account. I was told by the bank representative that there would be a five day hold on all my deposits for the first 30 days I have the new account. I told them I didn't have a problem with that.

Everything went well for the first few weeks, and then the Christmas 2004 holiday struck. This gave US bank the chance to hold my deposits for more than five days. So they started bouncing all my checks that I had written on this account. They returned all the checks to the merchants, costing me hundreds of dollars in check recovery costs. Then the bank took all the money I had in the account for overdraft fees. Although I am with a local bank now that I can trust.

I am still afraid to write checks on my account after what US Bank did to me. I went in and talked with the branch manager at the US Bank branch where I banked at. She was very nice to me about the whole situation. She reversed all the overdraft fees ad put my account back in good standing. I still had to pay all of the merchants that US Bank had returned my good checks too, but the manager's pleasant attitude made me want to stick with US Bank.

I had no problems with US Bank until spring of this year. I had two accounts with them. A checking and a savings account. The bank rep who set the accounts up for me, convinced me to do an automatic transfer from my checking to my savings every month. This would automatically put $25.00 in my savings for me, so I would not have to go to the bank every time I wanted to transfer funds. I asked the bank rep what would happen if I didn't have $25.00 in my checking account to cover the transfer in a particular month. He reassured me that the transfer would not take place, and I would not be fined for it. He was right I did not have any problem until April this year. That is when I didn't have enough money in my account for the transfer. They didn't transfer the money, but they hit me with a big fee for it, which caused my account to go in the negative allowing them to charge me for two overdrafts.

I called the branch manager again at my local branch. That is when I found out that the manager who had helped me the year before was no longer there. I guess US Bank found out that she was helping the customers they were trying to defraud, and probably got rid of her. The new manager at this branch is extremely hard to get a hold of. When I finally did get to talk to her, she fixed the problem for me. I could tell that she really did not want to.

Then again I did not have any problems with US Bank until this last September. This one was the last straw, and they are still trying to screw me over. This incident started when I went to log in to internet banking. That is when I discovered that my checking account that had a positive balance the day before, suddenly had a negative balance.

When I checked the transactions I saw where I had a positive balance, and after the positive balance for no reason there where several overdraft fees. These fees then put my account at a negative balance, allowing US Bank the chance to charge me even more overdraft fees. When I took this matter to my local branch office, the manager was conveniently unavailable.

When I asked the rep at the bank why my account was overdrawn, She told me that although I had the funds in my account to cover all the charges, some of my money was unavailable. I could not see how some of my money was unavailable, since it had been several days since I had made my last deposit. When I asked the rep why my funds where unavailable, the subject was quickly changed to selling me an overdraft protection credit. Finally I got her to speak to the assistant manager, who would not face me. The assistant manager told the rep to take off three of the several overdraft fees on the account. Which later that night more fees were assessed after the old ones where removed.

Now US Bank states that I owe them almost $500.00 or there going to use ChexSystems (A corrupt credit reporting service designed to screw customers over who will not allow a bank to defraud them.) This causes yet another big mess that is going to cost me a lot of time and money to fix. US Bank's policies are designed to steal from the customer and give to the corporate. So if you have an account with this bank and don't have any overdrafts, They will put some on any way just to get some more money. What a bunch of lowlifes!!

deposits policy

AUTHOR: Cj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 03, 2007

I will say simply and quickly that deposited paper items(checks or money orders) are usually not available for immediate use.
This is primarily to try to protect the bank from fraudulent deposits. The best way to proceed, with US Bank or any other bank, is to ask your banker or teller when your deposited funds will be available. In most cases deposited funds will be available the next business day. However, larger deposits or deposits from out of state banks, or deposits that appear to be suspicious, may be held longer, up to 9 business days.

Hopefully this helps.
