I am writing this to let other know that this company is impossible to work with and when you try and ask for help they are rude.

Several years ago we pruchased a mobile home and it was financed with Oakwood Acceptance Corp. We had some ups and downs thru the years, but Oakwood was always willing to work with us.

When we did have problems, I would call, let them know and they were more than willing to help us and we always go the payment made.

About 3 years ago we moved out of the mobile home and after trying to sell it and being unable to do so, we kept the mobile home and used it as a rental.

Oakwood went bankrupt and some of the offices across the country were closed. The office my rep was in was one of the offices that were close. I received a new rep and he was nice, easy to work with.

One day I received a letter in the mail informing me that Oakwood has been bought out by Vanderbilt and that my account had been turned over to them and should I have any questions to call Vanderbilt Customer Service.

I contacted Vanderbilt to do a check by phone, I had done that for years and never had a problem, until March 2004.

Wtihout warning, my renters up and moved out on us. There was no warning, nothing. They did not pay rent for that month and we were left with several hundred dollars of bills that they did not pay.

I paid the mortgage, not even thinking there was going to be a problem with my renters. The check that I did over the phone had bounced.

By the time Vanderbilt called me it was already April. Silly me, I thought that if I just told them what happened, and when I could make the payment they would understand and give me the time that I needed to come up with the money.

I was wrong! When they calledmbe about the bounced check, I told them that I was not sure when I would be able to pay it, if it would have been on the 15th of the month or if it would be closer to the end of the month. I would have a better idea in a few days. She (Miss Johnson) said that she would give me the few days. In the mean time, my daughter was in an accident and I was not able to call her when I said that I would.

I get a call from Miss Johnson, demanding me to send the money in for the payment. I explained to her that I did not have the money at that time, but I would have it on the 30th of the month. She said that was not good enough that she needed the money in thier office on or before April 23.

I once again explained to her what we were going thu and she was unwilling to help me or even work with me. I got so frustrated with her that I asked to talk to her superviser. That was a mistake! This lady, Kim, was even worse.

I decided that I was going to calm down and tell Kim what had been going on in hopes that she would help me out. I started to explain to her the situation and before I knew it she got even more rude with me that Miss Johnson had been.

Kim, the supervisor, kept changing her mind on me. One minute I had until April 23 to come up with the money, then the next minute I had to have it wired to her the next morning.

I was forced to commit to a day that I would have the money in their office, or they would begin foreclosure on the home. I did not want to commit to a day, because I was unsure if I could get the money to make the payment.

After being on the phone with them for about an hour and after getting a tenson headache I was able to get them to give me at least 24 hours to see if I could even get the money and if I could that I would wire the moeny on April 23.

When I called back the next day, Miss Johnson, once again, tried to change the date that I had to have the money in thier office. I reminded her that they gave me till April 23 and that is when they would have their money wired to them.

Again, I was frustrated by the way that I was treated, she was once again rude over the phone.

I decided to call and report the way that I was treated by both Miss Johnson and her supervisor. I did talk to someone that was nice and she assured me that Vanderbilt Reps are not permitted to treat customres in that manner and that Miss Johnson and her supervisor were out of line and and that I would not be treated in that manner again.

I felt good about what had happened when I got off the phone. That was about to change! About 30 minutes after I got off the phone with Vanderbilt, my phone rings and guess who it is? Miss Johnson! Calling me to find out why I called and reported her? I told her that I thought that she and Kim were rude and I was treated unfairly. Miss Johnson told me that they were not being rude. I informed her that I had been with a company for years that never treated me the way that she did. Miss Johnson then began it tell me that she is used to dealing with people like me, people that try and get out of making thier payments. I told her to wait just one minute and to take a look at my pay history, that my payments had been paid on time for the last 2 to 3 years and the last time that I even had a bounced check with Oakwood was over 5 years ago. Now tell me, am I the type of person that is trying to get out of making my payment? No! I am just trying to get a little time to make the payment. I then hung up on her.

I understand that feeling of wanting your own house. We worked on getting our own house for about 5 years. The feelings you go thru, wondering if it will ever happen. If you are ever at that point were you are sitting in that chair and the salesman says we got you financed thru Vanderbilt, Get up and walk out!!!!

No house is worth the aggravation, the stress and the frustration that you will go thru if something should happen and you miss one payment. Tell the salesman no thank you and to either find a different lender or the sale is off.
