Well, it all started with Vanderbilt, after they assumed our loan from Chase Manhatten. We were told that the 2K that we owed Chase was refinanced this $$$ is what our monthly note would be. Well, when it came time to pay that first note...low and behold the 2K popped back up, and we had to pay all at once, which we managed to do.

Every month after that for 2 years, we have pretty much received calls on the day the payment was due regarding it being late. Granted we were really never on time, and in some instances, due to money problem, we even got 2-3 months behind, in my eyes, as long as we called and informed them of our situation, that would suffice. NOPE!! It was always, "Well, can't you boorrow the money?" "Can't you take out a loan?" I don't have any way of "borrowing money" or "taking out loans". My better half asked them one day if they would loan us the money, since they thought we could just ask anyone!

Long Story short, we live on the Texas Gulf Coast and we were affected by Hurricane Rita. Had to evacuate, and had no electricity for 7 days, with a 13 month old in the house too. We had to run a generator for 7 days, just to keep a window A/C unit going in the babies room. What little money we had left after evacuating, we used in gas for the generator. They were sending collection letters and calling within 2 days of returning home after the storm wanting money, and didn't really care what happened to us, what we were dealing with, or anything. Were reimbursed nothing from FEMA, nor did we have sufficient damages to our home to warrant any type of help from them. That is where we got stuck.

On 11/14/05, we had a visit from the "local" Vanderbilt man, ya know...to make sure we were still there, ask us for money, etc. Well, he called the home office, and my better half spoke to our account rep. (who by the way is the biggest you know what on the face of the earth) She informed him, that we would have to get 1500.00 together be the 18th (4 days) and if we did not have it on her desk by that date, we would have to be out of the house by the 25th (day after Thanksgiving). So, we complied with them...we had no way of getting any money, so we were out of the house (also, we were threatened with Sherrif visit, and 30 minutes to get out, if not out by 25th).

It is now the 19th of December, no sherrif came, no papers have been served, and their house is still on our lot, that we are keeping. If they don't move it by the 1st of the year, we will again get charged property taxes for 2006, on that house. All the calls I have made to them (from several different phones) have disconnected me AFTER I type my loan number in!! No Emails have been returned, nor have any faxes. I beleive they are doing this on purpose.

If anyone has any suggestions, other than sending certifieds charging them rent and notifying them of the property taxes, please post them. Would like to contact an attorney as well, but we don't have means to actually hire one. We were in default of our loan, yes, but we have to have some sort of recourse on them for storing their crap on our property, don't we?
