Velocity Express, a same-day delivery service utilizes the services of independent contract drivers. These drivers are promised a certain dollar amount to make certain deliveries, usually by oral agreement.

When the driver receives their settlement payment two weeks later for services rendered, the dollar amount that was promised is almost never given.

When these discrepancies are brought to the attention of the proper parties, the drivers are promised that the problems will be corrected. These problems go unresolved for months, as my particular case has yet to be resolved.

Meanwhile these drivers have daily expenses that must be made, ie: fuel, highway tolls and vehicle maintenance. These expenses in additions to meeting the costs of living.

Some of these drivers have suffered incredible hardships as a result of Velocity Express's cavalier attitude towards resolving our pay issues.

There is constant buck-passing and everyone is "powerless" to resolves these issues, including the Area Managers.

Drivers Sign a Contract That Is Legally Binding

AUTHOR: GretaSchmidt - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 15, 2013

From 2003 to 2013 Velocity Express had a systematic pattern of legal loopholes to avoid paying Drivers their total payment for services rendered.  The contracts the driver signs states that they own their own business as Independent Contractors.  Labor laws no longer apply and it is now illegal for a driver to join a Union (Teamsters).  Somehow the drivers do not need a business license nor do they have to submit forms to required agencies.  They are not told that ICs with business licenses can form their own Business Owners Association and have more leverage in negotiating rates the owner (driver) receives for services.  Loopholes within the contract are commonly not noticed by drivers who believed the Velocity Express site's Public Relation's propaganda.  Payroll accounting errors nationwide cheated 50,000 drivers.  In Pennsylvania, the Court ruled that drivers and managers at Velocity Express were two business owners.   Employer/Employee status needed for sexual harassment protection was voided by driver's signed contract. Disgruntled drivers have voiced dissatisfaction of Velocity Express since  January 2003 when TH Lee Putnam replaced United Shipping and Technology. Corporate Express stock was at $28.75 a share when sold to United Shipping in 1999.  Share values then evolved into steady losses requiring 17 reverse stock manipulations. Stock certificates were valued at 1.5 cents each for months before it was sold to TransForce in January 2013.

TransForce offers honest accountants replacing Velocity's unethical bookkeeping practices.

There will be a shortage of 350,000 skilled drivers in 2017 and TransForce hopes to fill that need by maintaining a highly skilled network of drivers who are motivated with bonuses, genuine wages, and improved benefits.

Velocity Express specialized in losing money for over 13 years.  They were named "Worst Corporate Stock Performer of the Last Decade."  They have never made money.  They have been non-stop Losers since 1999.

Transforce makes $100,000 a month. It's high stock values and rapid growth will make it a major player in the North American transportation industry by 2017.  They have been non-stop winners for the last six years.  Their website is truthful. Velocity Express's website has always been deceptive false advertising.  Velocity's poor management, unethical accounting, workforce discontent, sexual harassment, client dissatisfaction, haywire tracking system, and lack of an effective training program are defects that will be solved within the next 18 months.

TransForce will transform Velocity Express into a company that drivers will appreciate. Clients will be extremely satisfied with it's improved reliability and it's error free same day service throughout the US and Canada. The Courier Code of Ethics will finally exist at Velocity Express.

POSTED: Wednesday, July 30, 2008

I think it is time the Attorney General and Dept of Labor step in and and review this companies labor practice, along with its weekly payroll deductions list.
The more people get involved the more notice it well get from the authorities.
Send a letter to the Attorney General and I guarantee you will not be the first or the last. The State will have to act

Velocity Express Ripoff Pt. III

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 20, 2007

Because Velocity Express, Inc has entered into an unsatisfactory contract with their primary client, they feel that the independent contract drivers should bear the costs of the deliveries, by reniging on the agreed upon settlement for the deliveries made (for those of that do not have a dedicated route).

As if the driver are on the board of shareholders!

Scheduled or On-Demand

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 09, 2006

Do you work in the scheduled or on-demand division?

If you work in the scheduled group, your CONTRACT (not oral agreement) should state EXACTLY what you are to be paid.

On-demand is slightly different as there are different distance, time, and cargo requirements depending on the delivery to be made. Even in on-demand you should have SOME idea of what the run pays beforehand.

If you feel you are being shorted in your pay, document EVERYTHING then file a contractor's lien (against their building, trucks, or whatever); Bet you get paid pretty quick then!

Velocity Express Robs Its Independent Contract Drivers (Part II)

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 08, 2006

In Addition, there are a few driver's who rent trucks through Velocity Express. When these drivers do not receive the pay that was promised or any pay at all it becomes difficult to work the following week.

Yet we are still obligated to work somehow, otherwise WE end up owing THEM.
