Verizon Wireless has a new rebate scam aimed at customers of their pre-paid phones. Phones are sold with a rebate offer of $50.00. A few weeks later they send a letter saying the rebate was denied because of a mistake on your paperwork. They are hoping you didn't keep a copy of the paperwork and if you did they say you have only seven days to resubmit paperwork for the rebate and still qualify for the refund.

The phones are sold by places like Circuit City. If this happens to you go back to whoever sold you the phone with a copy of the denial letter and demand a full refund for the total purchase price of the phone. This seems to get fast action.
