My aunt and I was invited to a tour at Grand Mayan hotel, but realized it a scam afterwards. We put down a down payment of $3943 for the vacation club membership since they promised that we can cancel the packaging anytime with full-refund within 5 days of the day of purchase, by giving them a call. THIS IS A PLAIN LIE!! The sales representative even secretly takes away the paper that he wrote with all the "bonus" and "promises" from the contract package. We found out that there are many hidden charges after reviewing the contract that was never mentioned.

The next day when I call to cancel the package, they demand us to go back to the vacation club for cancellation, and say if we don't bring the contract back, they cannot cancel the purchase (which is totally different than what the sales representative told me. Since I'm leaving Cancun that day, I told the representative I can't make it, he told me I have to take a TAXI there right now with my own cost! Terrible and discussing!

He then said we can send the contract to another VIDA office in another city, and once they received my contract they will process my refund. The contract has to be postmark within the 5 days of purchase, so I sent out the contract with express mail right away, spending another $290 peso out of my own pocket! I tracked that the packaged has arrived and signed on 9/6, but they lied again!!! They DID NOT process my refund, instead, THEY CHARGED ANOTHER $3945 TO MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION! Now I have $8000 USD in their hands.

Now I am trying every way to contact my VISA company to stop the payment and look into legal action against this terrible scam company VIDA VACATION.

DO NOT FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP and PLEASE SPREAD THE WORDS TO ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO WILL TRAVEL TO MEXICO!

I've spent a lot of money and i was scammed by other companies trying to cancel my timeshare. My advice is that if you're going to hire a company to help you with the problem, DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT, because it use to be a fraud. I did a research on internet and i found some interesting articles, i recommend you to read this one:

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: SandraLaw - ()

POSTED: Friday, June 20, 2014

We met with the Mayan Palace timeshare sales people during our trip in January 2013. We are already timeshare owners with another company and we were not terribly interested in taking on more debt for yet another timeshare. We expressed this feeling early on in the presentation. Our existing timeshare with Shell Vacations Club is not paid off, so we still have the monthly loan payment and the maintenance fees we have to pay. We were told that their program would network us through a different "concierge" service that would pay the maintenance fees on our old timeshare, saving us that money, all while allowing us to use that timeshare the same as we always have. Once I got the information in the mail about this service, I immediately called to confirm the information I was given and found out it was all false, and I am still on the hook for my maintenance fees plus loan payments on both timeshare packages. I made it very clear that I would not purchase the Mayan Palace package if this was the situation, and they blatantly lied to convince me to purchase. I'm also learning that the rental income they promise is a big load of ***. These people told us everything we wanted to hear to get us to sign and take our money, but knew the whole time they were telling us complete lies! I've emailed someone asking to cancel the policy and get a refund, but I'm expecting to get some garbage about it not being possible
