This forum is just one of many I've researched to see if anyone else has been given the shaft by Vonage when they attempt to cancel their account. Most of the blogs I've read almost look identical "I had no complaints about their service until I went to cancel......."
I am one of those peole. For over a year, I had no complaints at all, I was getting 2 lines with all the bells & whistles for the same price of the single line I had with Verizon, without all of the bells and only 1 or 2 whistles. When my wife & I called Vonage to cancel due to where we were moving to only had dial-up internet service (rural area) they tried everything to keep us on.
I finally told them we were moving on April 18, 2008 & cannot use their service. They said they would cancel service on 4/18. Yea, right. In June we received a letter telling us they were going to suspend our service for non-pay & turn it over to collections. After all of the yelling and screaming, they still added an unreasonable disconnect fee to our final bill & kept calling us and sending us mail demanding payment.
It wasn't until I told them I had turned everything I had over to our State AG and the BBB and if they had anything else to say I would give them the phone number for my State AG and they could talk to him personally. Suddenly the phone calls stopped and no more mail demanding payment has arrived from them.
If a Class Action suit is ever filed against Vonage, I will break all land records to be the first person to sign up.

What Is wrong with vonage they are theives. They refuse to let you cancel service & when you don't use there service or stop your payments they steal your money & send you to collections.
Vonage Is getting away with this. Vonage caused me $190 In overdraft fees with my checking account the attorney general of new jersey failed to help me get my money back.
6 months later vonage sent me to collections, I wish they never invented debit cards because once a business has your debit card they can clean your bank account & cause you problems with your checking account.
Well any business who steals from companies wont last long but vonage Is still In business It Is our right to cancel service with vonage.
If people want to keep there regular telephone company that Is there & mine rights. Vonage punish people who leave them, vonage also has rude rep. they hang up on people If they don't get there way!.
Vonage Is getting away with this somehow.
