BUYERS BEWARE!!! I have purchased a vehicle from Vroom/Texas Direct Auto via online and phone on 8/14/17, which is the day I signed the paperwork and mail it back to them, I took delivery of the vehicle on 8/21/17.  Upon first look around the vehicle I found a hole on the leather at the driver seat and  coolant was not even filled to the minimum level, for me these small things I'm not too picky about it and since I have bought a vehicle 1 year prior at the Carvana which also had issue too but they dealt it professionally with me and made everything right. So I just gave my salesman a call and a email, but everything just went south from there, ever since when I agreed on the sale and ready to sign the paper, the salesman attitude just changed completely, with the issue of the leather I did not get any answer for 2 days, before the purchase he literally calls me and leaves voicemails 3-4 times a day.  Then days after I took the car to get inspected by different mechanics, they all confirmed with me that both front and rear bumper has been painted before, so are the left and right fenders also the fenders has been worked before, the seams does not even aligned right and the paint for the front bumper was not even done with good quality.  They then told me check with the KBB and this car with accident is below fair value, they quoted around $17k old for this car's value.  I then contacted my salesman,  Thomas Lartey, explaining the issues and Vroom has stated on their website that every vehicle was accident free and been thru 129-points inspections. Before purchasing the vehicle, Mr. Lartey informed me that there is not much to be done with the car since its in very clean condition, when I questioning about the fenders, he told me that they did a lot to the car to get it to pristine condition but didn't find anything wrong with the fender.  Hence I questioning him about the coolant and not to be surprised, he literally told me they didn't a lot and everything to the car but probably just forgot about the coolant, so much for their false advertising.  Generally I'm a very reasonable guy and I'm very busy tied up with work hence I choose to buy car thru phone/internet, Mr Lartey informed me that he will work with me and asking manager to see what they willing to do.  Then they come back with an offer, and subject as "to make it right" A whooping $250, this is when I felt pissed, without any formal apology or a reasonable offer, they try to cover it up with $250?? Not disclosing that the car had been previously wrecked is already deceptive especially for and internet transaction, all the lying and using deceptive business practices to lure customers in, This is FRAUD!!  I then sent an email to Mr Lartey indicated I would like fair compensation of $2529.51 to make my purchase down to $17000 OTD or will like to sent the car back with all the fees occurred along with all my inconvenience, such as times, keys made, mechanic inspections, sun shade...,etc.  else I would just go ahead proceed with attorney I've been spoken with for a claim.  After the email been sent, Mr. Lartey just followed up with an email indicated that they will buyback the vehicle without any further details, date nor time nor did he ask me for the approval.  I waited the next business day on tuesday 9/5/17 but no one showed up nor called me, on wed 9/6/17, i got both email and phone call from vroom to take the vehicle back and they were already on the spot, which at the time I wasn't even in town, and I don't have access on my phone at the moment. I replied the email when I get back telling them I need to clarify everything first with their manager and the company, which again, no emails, no phone call after that. Yesterday 9/19/17, i got multiple phone calls and email from them again, and from all different person, again I was busy and didn't get to it couple hours later, again, replied email and no response. I have emailed their GM about the situation and sent an certified letter to them, again, no response AT ALL!! I strongly suggest all buyer stay away from Vroom/Texas Direct Auto, Carvanna is 10 times more better than them and back with what they guaranteed, no deceptive practice, no bad attitudes, no lies, and NO FRAUD!! I have then read other complaints, whether there were bumper painted, which they called it aesthetic reason, or interior damaged or torn/tear which they said the car met all the safety standard, and they quoted under the contract they have met the standard of everything.  Whoever is reading this review if you have same experience want to share please text me at (((REDACTED))), we can either publish the stories together via more social media and discuss about the class action with legal council, this is really getting to a point that not just a money issue but a right/wrong practice.  I also did not get any contract sent back from them within 48hours after I signed the paper but did actually obtained a copy by myself at the time, i'm wondering that with all these what else they won't  be doing, forge the contract or accidentally misplaced it?  Got a refund today for my deposit but still without any details in email or thru voicemail, are they now trying to force me to buyback the vehicle to get away with everything using any loophole or contract? I personally have told Mr. Lartey that please state everything through emails so everything is in black and white, if they want to leave a voicemail address the issue and don't just asking me to call back, enough with all the lies and ignorance.

Issue Resolved

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2017

“please check their website again, on their main page, they are advertized in huge front with ACCIDENT FREE”

That statement was challenged but you are unwilling to respond. It is evident that you are now aware there was no fraud. Thanks for clarifying!

Where

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 22, 2017

Please check their website again, on their main page, they are advertized in huge front with ACCIDENT FREE, AND 128 multiple inspection

- I did check their main page..and several other pages, but could not find this statement.

The only thing I did see was this statement

Every car we sell has a clean title and an accident-free AutoCheck® vehicle history report. Cars are inspected for safety, mechanical, and cosmetic issues.

Now, one thing that WAS on their site is that they offer a 7-Day return where they will even pay for the shipping back. It appears you got it inspected within the 7 days but notihing about you taking them up on this offer after you found out.  Instead you decieded to try and get it fixed and decided to attempt to change their conditions by wanting them to give you a credit.

By the way even IF they claim to have a 128 point inspection, with well over 20,000 parts on the average car what do they consider a "point" and which 128 did they look at?

Buying a vehicle sight unseen is a gamble

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

“what's the purpose of selling car online, and you have to fly over to check out the car before you purchase it?”

To avoid purchasing a car with damaged leather and misaligned fenders.

“please check their website again, on their main page, they are advertized in huge front with ACCIDENT FREE”

Nope, don’t see it. Perhaps you can provide a screen shot.

“everybody knows there wont be any report on carfax nor autocheck, if the accidents were not reported”

That’s why it isn’t fraud. For some reason you believe the dealer is required to inform the buyer of previous accidents for online sales. That’s your fantasy. Perhaps you are delusional.

They dropped the ball on the coolant level. Get over it.

Some people think the law will change by repeatedly making the same false claims. Try providing some new material in your next comment.

This is internet Fraud!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 20, 2017

sounds like someone is secrectly working for the dealership, why dont you use your real name here, since you know this is internet, make sure you know this transaction take places on internet as well.

1. Vroom.com guarantee their car and been selling their vehicle on internet with 7 day moneyback guarantee, we, as consumer who choose not going to dealership but rather buying via online, of course we can only check the car after we obtained the car, what's the purpose of selling car online, and you have to fly over to check out the car before you purchase it? Please check out Carvana.com and to see how they practice their model, Vroom.com who bought and merged with Texas Direct Auto are the main competitor now.

2. please check their website again, on their main page, they are advertized in huge front with ACCIDENT FREE, AND 128 multiple inspections, everybody knows there wont be any report on carfax nor autocheck, if the accidents were not reported and going through the process without insurance or police involved.  If they are addressing that they only care about the Autocheck report, did they mention anything after their 128 points inspection? if not what good is their inspection? and yes I took all the pics of the seams and the paint on phone, everything should have a date and time when it was inspected by the mechanics, which was inside the 7 day gurantee and i dont believe anywhere you can get the car painted, fixed within 2 days.

3. No, they are not required to inform us, IF AND ONLY IF they are not selling it online with their applausible big title on their website, addressing that the vehicle has no accident before, and they inspect every car with a 128 points inspection.  Even if they addressing that they use Autocheck, did they put in fine print addressing that autocheck might have no accident record if the owner didnt claimed through insurance or filed a report at the time of the accident? If not they should not advertized in big bold print as one of their guarantee that the vehicle they had are accidents free, do you see local dealership advertise their vehicle are accident free? PLUS I address the issue with the salesman, and i doubt he never checked the car first place himself since he and the car was in different location, and just giving out false promises about the car, and all I was looking was either a formal apology else I would like to return the car within their period and guideline, they came back with $250 and quoted "This reimbursement is to show appreciation for entrusting us with your business" They could at least apologize for overlooking the facts on the vehicle, even though we know they wont admit anything with their wrongdoing on their side.

if I was to purchase the vehicle AT dealership, then whatever you listed and pointed out was correct, but I was using their service via internet and purely everything was done online, this is definitely internet fraud

What fraud?

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 20, 2017

“Upon first look around the vehicle” you saw the hole in the leather yet you accepted the vehicle and you had the vehicle inspected by mechanics after the sale.

Your dissatisfaction with the cost is a case of buyer’s remorse.

“I then contacted my salesman,  Thomas Lartey, explaining the issues and Vroom has stated on their website that every vehicle was accident free and been thru 129-points inspections.”

Their website states, “You will never find a vehicle in our inventory that has had an accident reported to AutoCheck.” Are you prepared to prove any prior accidents were reported to AutoCheck prior to your purchase date?

“Not disclosing that the car had been previously wrecked is already deceptive especially for and internet transaction”

Why do you think they are required to inform the buyer of the vehicle’s accident history?

Nothing in your complaint supports your claim of fraud.
