We had the same overdraft problem as others, where the company charges the most expensive things first, so they can get the most overdraft charges they can. I do not care if they say this is because they want to make sure the most important things get paid first, or this is the order that things hit. It is not true.
They cannot decide what is most important, and when we checked online, we saw the order of things get changed. There is only one reason they would do this. To make more money. Yes, people should not have overdrafts, but sometimes mistakes are made. This does not mean that the company you do business with should take advantage of you.
This is a sorry practice. It is incredibly sad that a couple that is ripping off their customers cannot keep their heads above water. I guess that shows that what goes around, comes around. In our case, we made a deposit the afternoon before all these charges hit, and we thought it was too late to be counted in that day's deposits, but when we got home and checked online, the banks computers showed that the deposit was made, and it was listed under available funds (not processing or any other conditions), so we thought it was OK to spend the money (it was a cash deposit). Of course, the next day we found out that they retracted that deposit and started charging us like crazy, and like I previously stated, the most expensive was switched to the first charge, so they could extract the most charges.
We will be switching to another bank soon, but they know this is difficult, so they can get away with some unethical behavior, sometimes.

Guess what?...

If you don't change your financial management, you're going to get fees at your new bank as well. All banks that I know of post debits from largest to smallest. About the only difference is if the bank posts that days deposits before or after the debits.
As far as the deposit you made, look at your receipt and it will show you the effective date, the day the money is available for use. As far as looking on line & then saying the items are reordered, the items we know will post on a certain date will show as processing for that date. If something comes in for the previous business day (i.e. checks, auto debits) they will be processed for that business day from largest to smallest.
As far as making a mistake, yes we understand it happens, but some how I gather that you frequently overdraft your account. So are all of these mistakes or are you one of the people that don't keep a register?
