Placed order online for a digital camera on Sunday May 11. Online site says it takes 7 to 10 business days to process order. I needed camera on Sunday May 25. Looked at online-tracking the following week, and it said my order had left their Apple Valley, CA warehouse on Tuesday May 20.

Waited till Saturday May 24, and I never received email notifying me the order is ready to be picked up. Online-tracking clearly said it's "en route to store" on Tuesday, and Walmart's Apple Valley, CA warehouse is only 62 miles from my Pomona, CA Walmart store. Went to Walmart (Pomona, CA) on Sunday May 25, and was told my order was not there, and was ADMONISHED for coming to the store without waiting for an email.

I now realized Walmart.com will promise "7 to 10 working days" when you place order, but when you later check online-tracking, it will say "will arrive between 11 to 15 working days." I would not had placed order had I known it would take so long.

Walmart.com will renege on promise to deliver inside 10 working days, and will amend & extend it to 15 (or more) working days AFTER you had placed your order.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

7 to 10 days to PROCESS, then add the shipping times. Not a ripoff.

Edgeman is correct.

According to their help page:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=538380
"Walmart.com: Help: Shipping Costs & Times:

Total Delivery Time for Your Order
The total delivery time for your order is the period of time from when you place your order until the time you receive it. It is comprised of two parts: the processing time and the shipping time.

Processing time for an item is the time from when you submit your order to when the item leaves the warehouse. You can usually find an item's processing time when you click "See estimated arrival date" on the item page.

Shipping time is from when the item leaves the warehouse to when it arrives at your door. See shipping times below.

When to Expect Your Order to Arrive
During checkout, we will show you the date range during which you can expect delivery of each item in your cart.
We determine the starting date of this date range by adding the minimum processing time to the minimum shipping time and the end date by adding the maximum processing time to the maximum shipping time. For instance, if you bought a music CD that took 1 to 2 business days to process before shipping and you had it sent by Standard Shipping (3 to 5 business days), the CD would arrive in 4 to 7 business days.
Shipping times, shown below, apply to shipments within the continental United States only. For shipments sent by Standard Shipping method to Alaska and Hawaii, add two days to the shipping time. Delivery to APO / FPO addresses and U.S. territories and protectorates may take 3 to 6 weeks total.

Please Note: Weather-related shipping delays are not within the control of Walmart.com.
Delivery Method Shipping Time
Standard 3 to 5 business days (plus processing time)
2- to 3-Day Shipping 2 to 3 business days (plus processing time)
1-Day Shipping 1 business day (plus processing time)
Site to Store 7 to 10 business days (plus processing time)
Freight carrier (The only shipping method for oversize items) 7 to 14 business days
(plus processing time)"

Perhaps you were using the Site to Store service, which they go on to detail:

"How Site to Store Works
Use Site to Store to have eligible products shipped for free to your local Wal-Mart or to the Wal-Mart nearest to your friends or family. Here's how:

1. Look for the Site to Store logo associated with eligible items.
2. During checkout, select Site to Store as the delivery option.
3. Select the Wal-Mart store where you would like your items to be picked up.
4. We'll send you an email when your order is ready for pickup.

Please Note: Orders typically take 7-10 business days to arrive at the store after your order is processed (plus processing time).

Things to remember about our Site to Store service:

* Product assembly is not included
* Gift wrapping is not available
* Products may be larger than expected due to their packaging please keep this in mind when considering the vehicle you use to pick up your order"

Just in case you missed it:
"Please Note: Orders typically take 7-10 business days to arrive at the store after your order is processed (plus processing time)."

So it's processing time, PLUS shipping time.

Not a ripoff.

Processed or shipped within 10 ten days?

I've never ordered anything through Walmart's website, so I'll depend on your description. Does Walmart promise to have orders shipped within that timeframe or only that the orders will be processed? Those are two different steps in the whole process.

Processing an order generally means that the payment is in order, the product, customer's name and shipping address are summarized and off it goes to the warehouse or shipping department. For example, a camera store that I buy from frequently takes a day or two to process an order and then sends via UPS, which is another six days.

I agree that two weeks is a rather long time to wait.
