Washington Mutual Credit Card Do not get a credit card from this company. They are scammers. Dallas Texas

I had a Washington Mutual credit card. I went over the limit due to them charging me a 4.00 cash advance fee. They charged me a 39.00 overlimit fee. Then another time they charged me another 39.00 for being one day late. I thought there was a grace period on the card for 10 days. Well I found out there was no grace period. So I got fed up with their fees and said close the account altogether. I said I would just pay it down. So the account is closed and I was making payments to pay it down. I got it down to 550.00 and sent in the payment for the whole amount.

I then checked a week later with them via the phone to see if there was any residual interest or anything on the account. They said no that there were no more charges due and the account is closed. Well I don't trust anyone. So I let 2 weeks go by and just checked the account online.

All of a sudden there was a charge on my account for 63.00. I exploded. I called and found out that they are claiming some antivirus program was charged back in June. It is December now. So they are telling me first that I am completely paid off and now all of a sudden a 63.00 charge appears on my account from this company that they don't even have a phone number for. I never charged any antivirus. I bought my antivirus from a computer store. I told them I never charged that. Nobody would listen to me. They continually said it was my responsibility. I asked to speak to their fraud department. I was told that they would switch the account number. I am like why are you switching the account number on a closed account.

First the idiot customer service rep tells me that the account was never closed. Then she says she sees it is closed. Then she says I will have to go through their investigation process. I am like why am I having to do anything when you people are at fault. They told me the merchant is at fault and will have to be investigated. I am like are you kidding me. I paid off the account and now all of a sudden out of the blue 63.00 shows up on my closed account. And why can I look at the account online still if it is closed.

This company is a nightmare to deal with. I rather go without any credit cards then have to deal with scammers like Washington Mutual. I finally spoke to a superviser who said I would not have to do anything and they would credit the account and it would all be taken care of in two days. Well I will wait to see that. I will check the account in two days to see if it is cleared.

I am also writing to the comptroller of the currency. That is the agency that regulates the credit card companies. They are a department of the U.S. treasury. I am fed up. I don't like to have to write letters to agencies cuz it's a pain but I am going to start fighting back against these companies who hold your credit in their hands. They treat you like you are at their mercy. I mean if I didn't look to check up on it they could have sent it to a collection agency and it would end up ruining my credit. So I am warning everyone. Stay away from Washington Mutual credit cards.
