I am a victim of the same thing. I bank with Washington Mutual and Bixby Knolls branch is my home branch. I am a self employed contractor. I make many deposits from customers and every time I make a deposit my funds are held no matter what the amount and no matter how many times I deposit checks that are from the same person. I have never had checks that were paid to me returned. I can't understand why I am being treated in this manner. It's very frustrating and restrictive, because you can't manage your money. This bank is a rip off. They force people into financial difficulty.
When you put money in this bank they think its their money and they want to dictate to you when and how you spend your money.

It is good that you have never had one returned, but what if someone does try to scam you and the check does bounce? If that ever happened I think that you would be happy that the bank held the checks to make sure because not only would you be responsible for the money, but you would also have massive NSF fees due to it.
I, myself, would prefer that they hold them due to that. Just because all of your past checks have been good, it only takes on person writing a bad check, to make things go bad with your account.
