Like William, I noticed that my credit card had been charged for services ($24.90 per month) never orered from a name I did not recognize. I called the number, and I actually did get a person at the other end. However, she could not tell me what I was paying for, how the company had got my name, or even what the company did other than "web stuff." I asked to speak to an administrator and was told there none around at the time. Since this sounded suspicious and appeared to be fraud/scam, I contacted my credit card company as to who authorized the payment.

They had no evidence that I had authorized payment. I have no idea how my card number got into the hands of this outfit, but I made a fraud complaint and got the charges reversed -- and my account number changed. I suggest that anyone who ends up in the situation do the same. I have since been unable to unearth that this company claims to host website, but it certainly is not hosting mine -- I have a local ISP -- so a word to the wise, especially if your credit card has been endangered in any of the various loss of credit card numbers that have occurred at major businesses in the past year or two.

Dear Betty,

We are very sorry to learn about your experience related to these quetionable charges, but are also happy to hear that you were successfully able to get them reversed. Web.com has been in business for nearly two decades. We currently serve over 3.3 million customers and maintain an A+ rating with the BBB. We do own a number of other well-known brands including Network Solutions, Register.com, Solid Cactus and others among them, so perhaps that is where the confusion came from. Regardless, we take customer experience very seriously and are always here to assist. If your case has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to reach back out to us using this link http://feedback.web.com/mvfa/ , and we'll research further for you. Thanks Betty.

Sincerely,

Executive Support
