After falling behind a few times on my loan mid-2012, I was finally able to catch-up with it in early 2013. It made it difficult to catch-up as WFDS had locked me out of my on-line account but would call repeatedly throughout the day (weekends included) to harrass me about payments. When I would answer the phone I had little information to go off of because they had locked me out from seeing how much I truly owed. I was finally able to pay my back fees, late interest charges, as well as insurance lapses based on what they told me I owed. I was thankful WFDS had been patient enough with me to not take the car as most of my commuting is for work. That is all I can be thankful for, however. I paid large sums of cash to have this cleared up and bring me back to date with my loan. I was assured I was back to date and it was recommended that I begin to pay more every month to avoid interest charges, so I did. I went from $269.14/month to an even $300. I would go into a Wells Fargo branch and pay my monthly directly in cash as to avoid any types of internet glitches, late postings, etc. WFDS also allowed me back into their website to monitor my loan.

Over the past year I've been staying on top of my loan and insurance. However when I logged into my WFDS account today, I noticed my monthly had been bumped to $326.38. When I called to inquire they informed me that I am paying additional for insurance they added. They informed me I'm paying what I owed for the insurance lapses of the past. I became a bit frustrated and explained to them there must be some sort of mistake - I have all the receipts that show I paid off those late fees/insurance lapses. I also have written evidence from WFDS that my account had been adjusted to remove the added insurnace and bring me to current. The agents that I spoke with didn't seem to believe what I had to say and told me that they sent a letter. Though I informed them that this information is not showing on my online account (no breakdown/notice of added fees) they insisted they sent the letter. The Agent then said, that "that type of information wouldn't show on my on-line account." To my knowledge I have received no such letter, though I receive monthyl e-mails from WFDS about the status of my account - there is no mention or breakdown of my monthly charges. Why are they keeping this a secret?

Finally, the 2nd agent I spoke with, supposedly a "Supervisor" she said (in an aggressive tone) I need to speak to the insurance company which is a separate entity from WFDS. This after also stating that Wells Fargo branches are a separate company and they would have no knoweledge of the added fees either - but they're willing to take my money on WFDS behalf?

After I was transferred to the insurance company, I was on-hold for about 6 minutes before the line was disconnected. Seeing as all I have to go by are my receipts, I will call them back to see what I can work-out. Hopefully they'll see the math and realize what they're doing to me. This has caused late payments to show on my credit score which also is horrible - I had no idea they were doing this until today. My on-line nor my statements were showing late activity. This is horrible and the frustrating part is that I'm not sure where to go from here? I already paid, why should I pay twice?

Wells Fargo Dealer Services is a division of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A
Does not give out who owner is and they try to fine me for AUTO INS.
Contract 2xxx-0928
loan 92800xxxxxxx

they rip off due to they do not know what comprehensive coverage is.

usaa know this service and try to rip-off in fees like this.

Definition: Comprehensive Insurance Coverage is insurance coverage that helps pay for losses to an insured car due to fire, theft, or other losses that are not the result of a collision as stated in the insured's policy. An insurance deductible can apply depending on the insured's requests at the start of the policy. In most states this is an optional coverage and is not usually a required coverage. (note: Colliding with an animal falls under comprehensive insurance coverage)

Insurance for Auto Loan

I am an Insurance Agent...and when I read comments like this it really makes me wonder how ignorant people really are.

When you have a car loan, your loan stipulates you carry full coverage and that you "notify" the loan company of any changes to your insurance policy..

On average the Loan company will check with the insurance company you have given them to verify ins coverage and if the coverage isn't full Ins coverage or the policy isn't your current policy since you changed Ins coverage companies and didn't notify the loan company they will send you 2 letters over 60 days....If they dont get a response they will add Colladrial Insurance coverage to cover the amount of money that the loan is for, so if the car is totally they can get their money back....

Most of the people with car loans just ignore the letters the Loan company sends until their monthly loan amount goes up due to the cpi protection added to their loan.... then they whine on a web site like this one showing just how ignorant they really are.

Simple solution....KEEP YOUR LOAN COMPANY UP TO DATE WITH YOUR NEW INSURANCE COVERAGE ..and they will remove the cpi and refund back all premiums charged against your loan if there was "NO LAPSE" in Insurance coverage..

The comedian Ron white said it so well  "you cant fix stupid"   end of comment.
