Wells Fargo Home Mortgage WF Tacked on 30k to principal balance for loan mod, Internet

Loan remod took almost 2 years.  Husband lost job in 9/08. applied for loan mod in 11/08 and got final loan mod trial payment to begin 7/1/09 for 3 mos.  we were told make the 3 payments & that will be your payment under final modification if not less.  after making 3 payments I waited, and waited and called, and called and waited for them to finally finalize it all.  During this time x & I filed for divorce and he filed a quit claim deed on the house.  Now I have less income.  Bank still draggin their feet on loan mod then sent a letter saying I make too much money (which is impossible from the beginning of the whole thing), although my income had not changed other than losing x's income and being the sole provider of the family.  They said I will have to begin paying the orginial mortgage again the next month.  I called and argued with them on the phone for 2 hours until someone finally assisted and said that I could re start the whole process and could continue to pay the trial payment until it was resolved. 

I restarted the process and never missed any payments.  I filed a complaint with WF board of directors and cc'd everyone under the sun including President Obamas office.  The presidents office of WF contacted me and told me my loan mod would go through their office and I was to call them only with concerns.  The Pres office was easier to deal with than someone new each time I called. I finally got the  final loan mod papers and while they did did reduce the rate significantly it was $500 more than the initial trial payment which posed a hardship and on top of that they added $30k to my principal balance.  Now I have a loan that is $300k and my home is worth $160k.  Even though I was unhappy about them not assisting in forgiving anything I am in the rears or principal and increased in payment I was going to take on a second job to try to make that payment, however after realizing they tacked on $30k I felt there was no other option other than short sale.  Adding money to the principal was not going to help me.  They said that since 2008 my prop increased in value and that is why they had to increase it.  However the same model home accross the street sold for $141k.   I feel WF is simply playing a game and not in this to help the consumer.   I spoke to another WF customer today and he explained the EXACT same senario they played with me.  Only on his loan they decided to tack on $40k. 

Someone please explain to me how and why we bailed out wall street and these banks.  An ungodly amount of money that should have been passed down to consumers and it is not.  I dont understand how our President can just sit around and see that our money was pissed away to help someone who should have not been helped.  If we had taken that money and given $100 to each citizen in hardship to save their home we'd be in better shape.  Banks are simply playing a game to prolong forclosures, short sales & bankruptcy.  The fact that our tax dollars were used in this manner is truly despicable!! I am so sad that after a ugly divorce that I have to take my kids away from their home that they love and into an uncertain future.
