In Mar of 2008, we had a serious hail storm. It tore my house up pretty badly. Our insurance company had us sign over the money for repairs to our mortgage company, Wells Fargo. Recently, we were finally bumped up on the list to get our roof repaired. Though we have jumped through all the paper hoops that WF has put into place before they will send our money to us, they have not sent one dime yet. We paid for the roof repairs out of our savings.

Next week the siding people are supposed to do over $10,000 worth of work. We have made numerous phone calls inquiring why the money has not been sent. For every phone call, we've been told a different story. Finally, last week, we were told that the total of the money being held was being sent out in two checks.

First we were told it mailed out Fri, then it mailed out Sat., no it couldn't have mailed out Sat, it must have been Monday. They don't know what the heck they are doing and I don't know who to report them to. My husband is ready to get a lawyer, but I want to report them to some authority as this was a catastrophic loss. They think I'm too stupid to know that they are holding the money and it shows as an asset for them, and may even be in an interest baring account.

The bottom line. They don't want to release the money. Has anyone else had this problem? Did you get your money? Did you report them to anyone? If so, who? Oh, did I mention that today, Saturday, a week from the last Saturday mentioned earlier, we received a check from the mortgage co for a whole $82.00 with no explanation. It looks to be from our escrow. Another correspondence accompanied that saying that our house payment is going up due to either taxes or insurance and that we need to pay in $89.00 to keep the payment from being over a certain amount.

I think they have lost their minds. It doesn't make sense to say that my escrow is below a certain point, and yet send me almost that same amount in a check. These are two separate issues, I think!!! My biggest concern is the holding of the insurance money. Yes, Monday, I'm calling the insurance company to tell them what the mortgage company is doing. Maybe that will be a good start.

While that is good information? We have already been down this road too. They have told us about the inspector. WF was supposed to have scheduled an inspection twice. Still no inspector has called, nor shown up. We have a packet that tells us everything that we are supposed to be doing. We've done our part, filling out ridiculous paper work and faxing it. It has taken over a week at times just to find out if they have the paperwork we've faxed. They've not done their job at all. Because of the screw ups, they have been telling us for over a week that they are waiving the inspection and have mailed the money.

Still no money. Regardless of which day of the numerous days they say they mailed the check, it should have been here. My husband is livid at this point, and that takes some doing. He is a very calm, patient man, to a fault at times. We are giving it until Monday's mail, and if no check or checks, then Tuesday, we are going to begin our contacts with Allstate. If no satisfaction there, then if no one has a better suggestion, I guess it's off to our lawyer. I hope someone else might have a suggestion before it comes to going to the lawyer. It has occurred to me also that the notice about our taxes and insurance having increased should be investigated also by calling my insurance company and the county tax office, because I've not gotten notices from either of them about any increases. WF will not get one extra dime until I know these are legitimate increases. I gave it some thought and they did this last year also. I didn't question it and just paid into escrow.

I know I mentioned that this damage occurred in March. Who will be responsible if we do not receive the money and the exposed areas of the house are further damaged by the fall and winter rains? Something has to be done, and as I mentioned, we have siding people coming. The siding job will be over $10,000. We are not able to pay that out of our pocket and listen to more lame excuses, or "the checks in the mail." Isn't there a government agency over the mortgage companies?

I work for many insurance companies and I do insurance loss, which this is. Some like me if you were in my area I would come out to your house and inspect the dmg and make a report on what the contractor has done and or if there is anything else to do. They usually send us out at 3 incrimants, which means you basically get 3 checks. at : 50%, 75% and the final 100%. So get on the phone with your mortgage co and tell them you want an insurance loss inspection done and you want your first draw which should be 50% cause some one should have told ya thats how it is done. Let me know if I can be of help further.
