I purchased a Whirlpool Accubake on May 5th, 2007. After one year of owning our stove the self cleaning stopped working. This was not a concern of mine because I never really used it. In July 2011 my oven stopped working. I used Whirlpool's website to find a local repairman that was certified in fixing my appliance. I called A&E Factory Service. The first appointment I was told a part would need to be ordered and that would cost 155.91 bringing my total cost to fix my oven $294.26. I was then given another date a week later for the repairman to come back and complete the repair. A&E came back again, they then determined that the part that they ordered could possibly be defective they spent over an hour and a half trying to determine if there could be anything else wrong.
On the third visit, they said it has to be a manufacturer's defect.... It cannot be fixed. A & E offered me a full refund. I decided to contact Whirlpool. I believe they should either replace or send another repairman out at their expense to repair my stove. I had already spent 3 weeks trying to get the stove repaired only to be told it was a manufacturer's defect. I spoke to a supervisor named "Kitty" who said it was my responsibility since I did not purchase the extended warranty. Extended warranty or not this is a manufacturer's defect and they should stand by their product. When speaking to the repairman with A & E he also advised me that there were recalls on my particular model. I am asking only that my oven be repaired.
As of today 09/27/2011, your company sent out Maytag Service Compnay of Louisville.Per the Tech Line they are deaming this stove as non-repairable. I think this is a gross injustice that you think your product has a timeline. I want my stove replaced. I have purchased all of my appliances with Whirlpool. I am a loyal customer through the years my family and I have purchased several thousand dollars worth of products with your company and if it wasnt for loyal customers, I dare say you would not be in business today. Word of mouth goes a long way. I am not going to let this lie.
