Winston Financial Management Trip Reward and $50k scam ripoff Syracuse New York

As with the previous reports, I received a "Trip Reward Notification." According to the notification, I won a five night cruise to the Carribean and $50,000. Apparently I was the third-prize winner in a drawing sponsored by the North American Holiday Travel Reward Promotions.

Included in the letter was an authentic looking check for $2,990. The check was drawn on the account of "Computershare Investor Services PLC" at Citizens Bank of Massachusetts. According to the letter, Computershare is one of the financial sponsors of the prize drawing.

The address and information for Citizens Bank was accurate and the check had sophisticatd security features. The check was the hook for me.

The letter was signed by Kathleen Amos and instructed me to call Veronica Wilson at 1-778-552-0978 to claim the rest of my reward. I called. The ring tone on the phone was distorted, suggesting that I was calling someplace far away. A woman answered "Winston Financial." She was unprofessional and didn't seem to have any information about my reward. I was told to call back the next day to speak with Veronica.

I googled the "778" area code. It belongs to Vancouver, British Columbia.

When I googled "Winston Financial" I got the Ripoff Report website. What a great service!

I'm going to try to string them along a little bit. It would be interesting to learn where they want me to mail the money.
