On February 23, 2005 I signed a contract for service through Sprint for 2 phones at a kiosk in Ohio (Wireless Retail). On June 11, 2005, my son moved out of the area to New York and changed his phone number. The next thing I knew I started receiving collection notices from General Credit Services located in Carmel, IN demanding $200.00 for Retail Wireless.

I called the collection agency and was told that the phones had to be on for 181 consecutive days without a break in service. Changing a phone number broke the service. May I add this collection agency has some of the nastiest unprofessional people I have ever spoken to in my life. They basically threatened to ruin my credit. Pay or else!!! I refused to pay.

I relocated back to New York in 2007 and was in the process of purchasing a house, when I found out this was on my credit report. With advice from the bank to remove it I paid the $200. It was removed from my credit report.

A couple months later I got another collection letter from the same company, but now it was for the second phone which was never interrupted for anything in the 181 days. It has not been interrupted to this day. Again I call them and get the same threat. Again it is on my credit report.

I have talked to Sprint too many times to count throughout the 4 years since this began, only to be told that they never contacted Wireless Retail for any interruption of service. I just received another collection letter 2/11/09 from the same nasty agency. I called Sprint and discussed this with them again for another 90 minutes to be told again they never sent anything to Wireless Retail.

I have never been able to get a working phone number to contact Wireless Retail. I have sent several letters, but never a response except I would have to deal with collections. It was out of their hands. I will not pay another $200 to these thieves. I would just like to get this resolved once and for all. If anyone can help, please let me know.
