ON 01/25/2005 I PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN ON A 2 WEEK OLD 'TINY TOY PUG' IT WAS TO BE 7-11 POUNDS THE COST WAS $1300.00. WE WERE TO PICK UP THE DOG ON 03/03/05. HECTOR WAS OUR CONSULTANT. WE LIVE IN MO AND WAS DRIVING THERE TO PICK UP THE PUG. 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO PICKING UP THE DOG I CALLED HECTOR TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WAS SET FOR 03/03/05 & HE STATED THE PUPPIES WOULD BE THERE THE LAST WEEK OF FEB. I AGAIN CALLED HECTOR ON 03/01/05 AND AGAIN HE STATED EVERYTHING WAS SET FOR PICKING UP THE PUG ON 03/03/05. AT 7PM ON 03/02/05, 11 HOURS PRIOR TO LEAVING MY DAUGHTERS HOUSE IN ORLANDO FOR OUR TRIP TO HOLLYWOOD, FL TO GET OUR BABY PUG HERCTOR CALLED TO TELL ME THAT DUE TO THE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH THEY WERE UNABLE TO SHIP THE PUPPY. HE SAID THEY COULD SHIP IT IN A WEEK OR SO TO OUR HOUSE IN MO. THEN HE SAID THAT THEY HAD A 16 WEEK OLD TINY TOY PUG THAT WOULD NOT GET ANY BIGGER THEN 8 POUNDS & JIM THE OWNER SAID THEY WOULD SELL IT TO USE FOR THE SAME PRICE EVEN THOUGH THE PRICE FOR THAT PUG HAD BEEN MORE THEN $1300.00. WE WERE SO UPSET, WE HAD BEEN PLANNED TO GET THIS LITTLE BABY PUG FOR OVER 2 MONTHS. MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED WE WOULD GO & LOOK AT THE PUG THEY HAD THAT WAS 16 WEEKS OLD.
WHEN WE GOT THERE OF COURSE WE FELL IN LOVE WITH HER LITTLE FACE AND DID BUY HER. WE WERE TOLD BY SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT WORKED THERE IN THE STORE THAT SHW WAS GOING TO BE VERY SMALL AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT GET ANY BIGGER THEN 8 POUNDS. AFTER WE FINISHED THE TRASACTION THERE WE WERE TOLD TO GO TO THEIR VET, HOMETOWN ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND HAVE HER CHECKED. WE TOOK HER THERE AND THEY EXAMINED HER & DID A FECAL EXAM AND TOLD US EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND SHE WAS HEALTHY. WE DROVE BACK TO ORLANDO ON 03/03/05 AND LEFT MY DAUGHTERS HOUSE ON 03/05/05 TO DRIVE HOME TO ST. LOUIS, MO. MY DAUGHTER ALSO HAS A PUG THAT IS 2 1/2 YEARS OLD. ON THE WAY HOME SEVERAL TIMES MANGIA THE NEW PUG SEEMED TO HAVE A COUGH AND ACTED LIKE SHE HAD TROUBLE BREATHING. WHEN WE GOT HOME ON 03/06/05 SHE WAS WORSE SO WE TOOK HER TO OUR VET, WEBSTER GROVES ANIMAL HOSPITAL AT MIDNIGHT AS AN EMERGENCY DUE TO HER BREATHING PROBLEMS. WHEN WE GOT THERE THEY DID A CHEST X-RAY TO R/O PNEUMONIA.
THEY ALSO NOTICED ON THE EXAM TABLE THAT THERE WERE WORMS FROM HER RECTUM. THEY GAVE HER AN INJECTION FOR THE WORMS AND AN INJECTION OF ANTIBIOTICS FOR 'KENNEL COUGH'. THEY ALSO SENT HER HOME WITH MEDS FOR HER COUGH AND SOME ANTIBIOTICS. THE COST WAS $207.00. I CALLED WIZARD OF CLAWS AND LEFT MESSAGES FOR GILDA AND HECTOR ON 03/07/05, 03/09/05, 03/08/05 & 03/14/05, 03/22/05, 03/23/05. THEN ON 03/08/05 MY DAUGHTER CALLED TO TELL ME HER DOG WAS STARTING TO COUGH & HAVE TROUBLE BREATHING. SHE TOOK HER DOG TO BANDFIELD VET AT PETS MART AND THEY SAID SHE ALSO HAD 'KENNEL COUGH' THE COST OF THAT WAS $93.00. I FILED A REPORT WITH THE BBB ON 03/14/05 SINCE NO ONE WAS RETURNING MY CALLS AT WIZARD OF CLAWS. ON 03/15/05 PAM CALLED & ASKED ME TO FAX OUR VET BILL TO THEM. ON 03/22 & 03/23 I CALLED AND LEFT MESSAGES FOR PAM. SEVERAL DAYS LATER PAM CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THEY WOULD REINBURSE ME FOR MY VET BILL BUT NOT FOR MY DAUGHTERS. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER I GOT A CHECK IN THE MAIL. AS OF TODAY 10/14/05 MANGIA IS 17 POUNDS HARDLY A TINY TOY PUG. WIZARD OF CLAWS LIED ABOUT THE PUG WE PUT THE DEPOSIT DOWN ON, LIED ABOUT HER HEALTH AND LIED ABOUT THE SIZE SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.
I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY COMPLAINT ANY FURTHER BECAUSE I KNEW WITHOUT A LAWYER I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET ANYTHING DONE. WHEN WE GOT HOME FROM FL. WE NOTICED ON HER PAPERS THAT THE BREEDER WAS FROM HERE IN MO IN SHELLKNOB, MO. I CONTACTED JOE HUMPHREY THE BREEDER THAT SOLD MANGIA TO WIZARD OF CLAWS TO SEE IF HE HAD ANYMORE TINY TOY PUGS. HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS A TINY TOY PUG. I ASKED HIM IF HE SOLD HER AS A TINY TOY PUG TO WIZARD OF CLAWS AND HE SAID HE DID NOT. I ALSO ASKED HE HOW MUCH HE SOLD HER TO THEM FOR & HE SAID $425.00. I ALSO TOLD HIM THAT I DID NOT GET ANY MEDICAL PAPERS FROM THEN ABOUT MANGIA AND HE SAID HE SENDS ALL HIS DOGS WITH ALL THEIR SHOTS & WORMING INFORMATION. I TOLD HIM THAT THEY DID NOT GIVE US ANYTHING ABOUT HER SHOT OR WORMING HISTORY.
I WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE TO WIZARD CLAWS. I HOPE THAT THIS LETTER WILL HELP GET THAT PLACED CLOSED DOWN. I ALSO HAVE ALL MY VET BILLS FROM BOTH VETS IN MO & FL IF YOU WOULD NEED THEM.
THANK YOU
KELLIE & BILL

Wow I'm sooo glad I found this! After contemplating a puppy I saw on puppiesforsale.com, I found things to be somewhat fishy so I googled their name. I guess they're right when they say trust your instincts. Some of their dogs looked kind of sickly but others looked to be very healthy and cute. They have NO prices on their website, and after having looked online for weeks for a dog this was the only one I found to be like this. They have links to "email a question" and after doing this asking for prices, the lady wrote me back saying she "gets tired after too much typing" which I found weird since the email was several sentences long--so how can you not give simple pricing? She also stated that shipping would be $300 "but I'd be glad to split that price with you" and "we will work with you on pricing"--all of that sounded somewhat desperate to me (more so splitting the shipping price since that's kind of a definite set-in-stone cost. Plus the name of their site just sounded way too generic like they weren't an actual company "puppiesforsalesite?" They have a page with "celebrity buyers" -- yea right!! If I felt the site was fishy, why would celebrities who can order anywhere choose them? I wonder how they can still be doing business?

Judge orders Wizard of Claws owner to stop selling dogs
Puppy dealer accused of doing business after settlement
3:57 p.m. EDT, May 12, 2010
FORT LAUDERDALE
Jim and Gilda Anderson, puppy dealers accused of selling sick dogs in a lawsuit settled in Febraury, may be back in business.
In a motion filed on May 4, attorney Christine Deruelle accused the Andersons of selling puppies again within days of the settlement and ignoring the strict guidelines it required. The deal says they would provide a monthly report to the State Attorney General's Office should they ever again open up shop, but no report was filed until last week.
Fort Lauderdale resident Krystal Eubanks says the Andersons sold her a Maltese puppy in March. The puppy, named Chloe, died five days later.
In a hearing Tuesday, Broward Circuit Judge Robert Rosenberg ordered Jim Anderson to stop selling puppies until the matter could be settled. Rosenberg set another hearing for May 20 at 9 a.m.
Saying he was worried about the puppies' health, Rosenberg said he would assign a third party to take custody of the 45 puppies at the Anderson residence on South Stonebrook Circle in Davie. Their store, Wizard of Claws, was in Pembroke Pines.
"I am concerned about the health of those animals. I don't want any dogs moved," the judge warned Anderson, who sat alone while TV cameras captured the scene.
Rosenberg also advised Anderson to hire an attorney and bring his wife with him to next week's hearing. Anderson told the judge the new accusations against him were "inaccurate and frivolous."
In June 2009, the Wizard of Claws filed for bankruptcy protection and a court trustee seized control of its store in Pembroke Pines, at 9113 Taft St.
That week, rescuers from the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society of Broward County arrived at the Wizard of Claws store and found 33 puppies, one of them dead in its cage.
The puppy shop and its owners were already battling a lawsuit alleging they sold puppies that died or got sick within days or weeks of purchase.
The lawsuit, filed in June 2007, accused Wizard of Claws and the Andersons of selling dogs with severe health problems and genetic defects through its pet store and over the Internet. The suit alleged the Andersons bought unhealthy dogs from puppy mills across the United States, then sold them for $1,000 or more.
Wizard of Claws also did business under the names Celebrity Kennels Inc., Dog Breeder Kennel Inc. and Puppies for Sale Inc.
After Wednesday's hearing Eubanks, 27, told the Sun Sentinel she bought her Maltese puppy on March 22 after searching for puppies on the Internet and finding the Andersons. She bought the dog for her daughter, who was traumatized by the pup's death.
"We became very attached to the dog," Eubanks said. "My daughter is 5. She is still saying Chloe is in heaven."
Under state law, consumers can return or exchange a dog or cat that becomes ill or dies within 14 days of purchase. Consumers can return an animal within a year of purchase if the pet has a congenital or hereditary disorder.
A pet dealer must be notified within two business days of a vet's determination that a recently purchased dog or cat has been deemed unfit for sale. Consumers have the right to retain, return or exchange the animal and receive reimbursement for certain related veterinary services.
Experts recommend buying pets from rescue groups, animal shelters or local humane societies.
They also warn against buying an animal without visiting the home or breeding facility where it has been kept. That rule applies even if you get a referral from a group like the National Breed Club, American Kennel Club or Cat Fanciers' Association.

Pleae be aware of a site called puppiesforsalesite.com, it's the same people that ran "wizard of claws" they were closed down due to selling sick puppy mill dogs & were taken to court in a class action lawsuit at that time they filed bankruptcy so no one in the lawsuit recieved a dime for all the hundreds of sick dogs that thet sold. The court ordered them to never open a business again selling animals. They have now opened another. Just please do NOT BUY ANYTHING from Jim & Gilda Anderson
