Back in 2014 we noticed a bad review on yelp about our company and noticed our good reviews were removed and placed in their not recommended spot which is very greywd out and if you actuly notice it you have to click on to see those reviews.
We tried to find out how to contact Yelps customer service, to address this, and to explain the bad Review was actually from our competition not a real customer. “We recognized the Name”
But found out there’s No Phone number to contact yelp customer service and that there’s is only a very limited Business portal option available to flag a report.
So I called their Advertising office, surprisingly they have a phone number "LOL" and spoke to someone. This was in less than 2 minutes again “LOL”. I was told about the Business portal and how to flag the review, I was also told that reviews are posted or removed by some type of algorithm, so I questioned why 8 good reviews were removed and the only bad review remained. No answer except for the algorithm statement, then they requested me to do some advertisement with them.
I did agree to do some online coupons and then flagged the bad posts. A few days later I received an email from their customer service saying they agreed the bad post was against their policy and they removed it.
Then a few days after that I was contacted by their advertising team to do some more advertisement with them and I declined. Almost the next day the bad post was back on. I re-flagged it and was informed a few days later they would not remove it.
Doing some online research I found out that the better Business bureau has hundreds of the same complaints about yelp
You better advertise with them or they will remove good posts.
Yelp if honest should post all reviews “good to bad” and be an honest review site, since they do it by stars as done with almost every other company, Consumers can judge for themselves. But to filter out Good reviews as appears to be the trend if you don’t advertise with them delegitimizes them as a true Honest Review site.
Shame on Yelp
