I have been getting automated calls from Alliance One for a long time. The call is suposedly from a Vivian Moore, but that is a code name for an automated call. I had called them twice before to remove me from their list as they were asking for someone I have never heard of. On 11-27-07 I was assured that my phone number and address had either been removed or a note added to not call. I got another call yesterday (12-10-07) exactly as before. I called again today to talk with a supervisor. I was told again that they would remove my contact info. They confirmed that it had been removed on 11-27, but it got added again. The supervisor said they would remove my name again, but I got no assurance that my name would not be added back again. There appears to be no obvious recourse to this issue. Although I did get her supervisor's name in the event I get called again, I don't really believe it will change anything. I asked this lady what my recourse would be in the evetn that I get another call in the future, and her comment was "I guess you can contact your attorney". The supervisor I spoke with was Claudia Burger and her supervisor is Victor Lopez.

Old Phone Number

AUTHOR: Jim T - (U.S.A.)

I have had my phone number for over 37 years. I did not start out irate. I had been getting calls for over 6 months. It took that long before I called them to try to get it stopped. They confirmed that it would stop TWICE, but each time I got another call within a week. At that point what options does an individual have?

Its usually the solicition calls that just keep coming in.

Extortion, outwresting, or exaction is a criminal offense, which occurs when a person either unlawfully obtains money, property or services from a person, entity, or institution through coercion or intimidation or threatens a person, entity, or institution with physical or reputational harm unless he is paid money or property. Refraining from doing harm is sometimes euphemistically called protection.

Extortion is commonly practiced by organized crime groups. The actual obtainment of money or property is not required to commit the offense. Making a threat of violence or a lawsuit which refers to a requirement of a payment of money or property to halt future violence or lawsuit is sufficient to commit the offense.

The four simple words "pay up or else" are sufficient to constitute the crime of extortion. An extortionate threat made to another in jest is still extortion. Exaction refers not only to extortion or the unlawful demanding and obtaining of something through force, additionally, exact in its formal definition means the infliction of something such as pain and suffering or to make somebody endure something unpleasant.
