This Company Academy Collection Services is not only a rip off it's ridiculous. Receive many phone calls from them. They never say who they are. But I find out by doing a Google Search of the Toll Free number. And they are blocked from coming through my phone system.
Now I have received a letter regarding a Credit Card I had over 5 years ago that had a $1000.00 Credit limit. They say I owe over $15000.00 but would accept $12000.00
Are they kidding. Not a chance I am even going to reply to them. I have no assets and they cannot do anything to me. But beware of them. They are Wolves in Sheeps Clothing.

Hey Neighbor! here's how you handle Academy Collections

Bruce,
I have dealt with these parasites. And you did the right thing by not taking the call.
However, I know from past experience with them, they will attempt to sue you, then you have the time and expense going on defending a lawsuit. What they do is serve an old address of yours to get "good service", then when you fail to respond, they get a default judgement against you and then a garnishment order that they can use to freeze bank accounts, etc.
You need to send a DEBT VALIDATION request as per your rights under the FDCPA, and until they comply with it, they must stop collections actions.
In this letter clearly deny the debt and demand to see a copy of whatever contract they have that created it with your signature on it. Then demand a full account history and itemization of charges. Then demand proof that they are legally entitled to collect the debt, and if they own it a copy of the sale contract, chain of title, and proof of payment. DO NOT sign the letter, print ONLY.
Send this letter by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records. This is very important as it proves WHAT you sent.
Deny everything. Make them prove everything, and NEVER make any reference to any prior debt. The entire burden of proof is on them, not on you.
Good luck!
