I had the pleasure of working with Gary whom represents the BBB in the LA and Orange county. Our company has over 1400 clients that we have provided wonderful service for. We have had a total of 2 complaints against us and our rating with the BBB went from AAA to F. Keep in mind that our complaints are less the 1% of our client base. I was informed by Gary that if I renewed my membership for $865. dollars that in most cases that will help with the F rating. What is that? A company that claims to provide a service to the public is offering higher ratings for $$$. Sounds like extortion to me! In short, that company is a huge scam, and shouldn't hold the reputation of Americas companies by grade. I wonder what their grade is? Funny how there is no access to that!

Sean, Tom, and Jim are exactly right! The BBB is a SCAM, and is OBSOLETE anyway.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

The BBB is a SCAM. A con game. A fraud. They should be shut down by the feds.
They DO engage in EXTORTION.

If you refuse to join the BBB and pay the exhorbitant membership fees, they WILL report bad or misleading info on your business.

The BBB is OBSOLETE anyway, and is on the way out.
The BBB serves no useful purpose.

This is due to the internet.

People can do research on any company online for FREE, and in just a few minutes! Then they can go to any number of sites on the internet, like Rip Off Report, for FREE and file consumer complaints.

The BBB was a "pre-internet" business model, and now serves no useful purpose to anyone. They should close down.

FYI...You can apply the FCRA rules to the BBB. You do not have to be a member or pay any fees. If someone reports something bad about you, you can dispute that item and have it removed under federal law. After all, they ARE a "consumer reporting agency" under the definition of the law.

BBB careless about small business owners.

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 16, 2009

I have filed twice with the BBB it took them three months to tale me that they still could not decide on the rating they were going to give Idearc Media on an instance of credit card fraud. They thought I should try binding arbitration. How dumb can you get this is a crime do we give binding arbitration to small time hoods? I do not think so.

Hey "BBB" Employee...BBB is a SCAM!

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 10, 2009

It doesn't take much to see thru the BBB con game. Put out lots of "information" the general public can obtain elsewhere as a smokescreen to make it appear the "BBB" is doing alot of work...then selling so called "accreditations" to anyone who wants to pay the price.

Tell me "BBB" employee....why is it that so many of your car dealer "members" charge BOGUS, ADD-ON, PHONEY FEES?

Tell me "BBB" employee, why is it the "BBB" seldom throws out a "member" when consumers complain of FRAUD and DECEPTION by an "accredited" member?

Tell me "BBB" employee...why is it that when a consumer comes in for "mediation" due to a dispute with one of your "accredited" members, the "mediator" is paid by the "BBB".

The bottom line is the BBB is nothing more than a two bit scam. The original poster was RIGHT. "BBB" SELLS accreditations and ratings. That's what the "BBB" is all about. Just like some slimeball governor trying to sell senate seats.

Oh yes...

Tell me "BBB" employee, if your "members" (those who have PAID for "accreditation"), are so-o-o-o full of integrity and trust, why don't you endorse them? Why??? Because "BBB" could care less about those things...its all part of the smokescreen, isn't it?

To you others dropping by...remember, the "BBB" is nothing but a SCAM. For a price, they will say anything about a "member".

BBB Ratings are not based on monetary value

AUTHOR: Tatt2dhottie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2009

I work for the BBB and it is funny how "sean" fails to mention what his company is and what they do. Chances are they have a F rating due to the type of business they run, the repeating nature of their complaints, or failure to address the allegations. Why don't you man up and let everyone know the name of your business so they can see the BBB report for themselves?
