I was new to the south due to a relocation and opened an account at Compass Bank. Since it was very close to the house I was purchasing and I was already doing busines there I decided just to get my mortgage there. Spoke with Danny Dambro of Compass Bank about a mortgage.

After signing my mortgage I am immediately informed my mortgage is being sold. Now I am with a company that I think is a bottom feeder and I am not interested in doing business with. Of course, I do not have a choice at this point. Also within days of closing I am getting sometimes up to 3 different advertisements for crap like mortgage insurance etc.

I called Danny and he said there was a piece of paper that had (of course tiniest print) something about opting out of their affiliate companies getting my information to send me garbage mail. My closing papers were around 3/4"-1" thick. This is NO joke. I have NEVER had to sign that many papers at a closing. If there is anyone that has ever read every sentence in that many closing documents I would like to meet them. Back to the subject. He NEVER mentioned during any discussions that they would be selling my mortgage. I believe this is deceptive practice when they make a business of doing this but intentionally do NOT tell you they are selling it AS you are filling out paperwork. Then when they SELL your mortgage they still bombard you with other crap from their other affiliates.

Shame on Danny and Compass bank. I will be moving my savings and checking as soon as possible. Of course as I was told when I opened that there would be a charge to close our checking account before a certain time period, so I will have to wait a couple of months.

Beware of deception from Compass bank. All you will get when you take out a mortgage is tons of junk mail in your mailbox and a new mortgage company you never intended to do business with.

This happened 3 years ago and I just googled myself and came across this. I have been with Compass Bank for almost 15 years and I have never had a client this unhappy before. I do not know the particular person that filed this report but I don't remember talking to him afterwards. At that time all loans were sold to Countrywide or Chase and one of our forms that the client would have signed explains that his loan would be sold to another lender and could be sold numerous times. I am very sorry for his bad experience but everything would have been disclosed to the client.
