We had NSF charges against our account, although we had the money in the bank to cover the debits. NSF charges were made for no reason which caused our account to be overdrawn. We were charged $348.48 in NSF charges. Prior to these charges, we had $642.38 in this account. The money we withdrew for debits were $544.81. There were no deposits made after the $642.38 balance, so all that money was in the account prior to debits being
removed. The bank manager agreed to put back half of the NSF funds, but I do not feel we should've had any NSF funds charged to our account period!
This isn't the first time that we've had problems with Compass Bank, but it may very well be the last!!! I feel they just flat out stole our money.

Yes the money was available.
The NSF funds were what caused our acct. to be overdrawn. All debits had been paid.
I can't figure out why the NSF was ever put on our acct. at all.
We have tried to rectify this with the bank, but all they have done was added back in $150.00 instead of the $348.00 in NSF fees.

1. Was the $642.38 balance available in the account before you did any of the transactions that were charged fees?
2. You indicate NSF fees which means something was returned unpaid? What were they and when did they try to post (usually the business day before the fee accessed)?
3. Did you have a deposit hold that made some or all of the deposit unavailable?
4. What item(s) did you have on check card hold?
All of these things can affect the available balance which is what items are paid against. If the available balnace goes negative then you will have overdraft fees accessed.
