I contacted dish network in response to a junkmail ad for cable service for 24.95 per month for twelve months (actually the ad said 24.95 for twelve months service!) I was told that to get service would cost 99 activation fee and 34.95 per month- that the 24.95 package required an additional 150 deposit-scam!
but to actually get service activated would cost 129.95 TOTAL which would include the activation fee and the first months payment and then would be 34.95 per month thereafter. I agreed to this deal and made an appointment for installation.
when i checked my account later that day i found they had debited my bank account the following amounts $1.00, $149.23, $1.00 and $49.99 for a total of $201.22, which caused my account to go into overdraft and was therefore charged two overdraft protection fees.
i then contacted dish network in an effort to get this cleared up with no luck- i spent 3 hours on the phone and talked to 9 different people and got one run around after another and still have not gotten the charges taken off my account.

Dish TV- Bait and switch

Well after four hours on the phone and talking to 13 different people I finally received a refund- although it took 8 day to appear on my checking account.
so it has cost me $50.00 (2 NSF bank charges) and over 200 (yes TWO HUNDRED!) minutes of airtime on my cellphone, 4 hours of my time and I have absolutely nothing to show for it.
I continue to receive their junk mail flyers touting their $24.95 per month service scam (whatever happened to laws prohibiting bait and switch operations?), however I will go without cable service rather than deal with DISH TV.

Did you ever arrange to have the box picked up from the old codger who didn't want to pay the $15?

I get them mixed up sometimes

Easy to do since both companies are scams. Read the fine print, research on line, do your homework before you sign any contract. Don't let them have access to your bank account, get a prepaid card to pay the bill.

Stay away from these Providers. Dish is no better. I doubt Dan from dish will help or respond to you, he is a shill for the company and his job is to respond to these reports to make it look like they care about the customer.

Response to Dish Network scam

Deposit , activation fee whatever you want to call it is rediculous to require that much additional money to participate in your advertised specials, and there is no mention of it in the advertisement. More importantly, my issue is that my account was debited considerably more than was agreed on which has cost me 25 dollars in bank fees and I have yet to see any refund of my money.
