I caught Dish double billing me, and I did not receive the programs that they promised. They then billed me for $227 that I refused to pay. They then referred this charge to a collection agency, and they reported it to Experian credit bureau. In Febrauary 2002 under the threat of a Class Action law Suit they decided to drop their charge, and they were to notify all credit bureaus, and the collection agency that the matter had been disposed of.
Today I discovered the collection charge remains on Experian, and they continue to make promises but the charges have not been erased from my report.
The collection agency Anderson Financial are no longer in business because of fraud, and theft. I want to file a class action law suit, and if we all come together as a group we can find attorneys who will take this case.

I used to love Dish Network until...
AUTHOR: Angie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, October 03, 2004
I had Dish Network for over 2 years. I really liked them. Then the issue came where I disputed a bill. I refused to pay the amount until they corrected it. Everytime I tried to call them, I got this d**n press 1 press 2 crap. Then I was asked for my telephone #. I entered my # and was then told in order for me to talk to a customer service rep, I must first pay my bill. Excuse me, I dispute the bill. After several attempts to talk to someone, I finally emailed them. I got a response in about 3 days. I was just given the excuse that they receive a lot of emails and they try as hard as possible to get to everyone ASAP. They gave me another # to call. I called that and got the same recording. I had also tried every number on their web site. Then I started getting telephone calls. The # that came up on the caller ID was 000-000-0000. No name to the #. Finally I got so pi**ed, I called the sales line to see if any of them could help. Instead I was told basically pay it. I informed him that I would contact the FTC and report them for this. He just laughed and said they will just look at your payment history and that would be the end of it. If he would have taked the time to look up my account history, he would have known that my bill was paid every month, with a debit card for more than what was due. Instead he thought it would be fun to vent out his ignorance on me. I terminated the call. No more than 5 minutes later my phone rang. It was the same idiot that I had just hung up on. He was calling from "Dish Network and was wondering when I was going to pay my past due account." I told him I had just talked to him and my opinion of him had not changed in 5 minutes. I asked to speak with his supervisor. I thought he was going to put me on hold. Then I hear this "b***h." I said "excuse me, I heard that." I just thought he said it before he put me on hold. Boy was I wrong. This moron kept his hand cupped around the phone so the other morons on the other side of his cubical couldn't hear him. He proceeded to call me a b***h three more times. I told him my 8 year old son didn't even act that stupid. Then he got a little more vulger by calling me a fu**ing b***h, then I was a fu**ing b***h w***e..... I think you get the picture. When I called to complain, I had to use my cell phone because I still couldn't get thru using my home phone. (Before I hung up, I did make sure he knew he had been recorded) When I called and talked with the "VP" he told me he had no way of finding out who it was. I told him I recorded the conversation and he wanted to hear it. I had to inform him that I turned it over to the local Police Department for investigation. He did get very quiet. I told him I would not pay that bill and if he turned it over to a collection agency I would go after them. Well, I got a call from some collection agency and mail from them wanting to know when I am planning on paying this bill. I told them what had happened, what I did with the recording, and that I have no plans ever to pay the bill. I ended the call. I just got a letter again from this collection agency from Iowa telling me they were going to put this on my credit. I called them and informed them to go right ahead since that would be more money in the bank for me when I get the report back from the police and file suit against them and Dish Network. I did tell the police to hold off on the investigation to see if I could try to resolve the issue myself. Well, Dish Network apparently decided they didn't want to resolve. So Dish Network watch out...You're worst nightmare has just come true. I'm comin' to get ya!!!!!!!!!!!!! After I get done with you, you'll know what "b***h" means.

Crooked

I used to work for these crooks, I can tell you this much the people there ARE underpaid, they ARE disgruntled and they DON'T care about what the customers think. I have a unique perspective on them in the fact that I used to work for them as a Dispatcher/Customer Service which means I keep track of the technicians and I answer customers calls on complaints and problems and give ETA's for the tech's.
I remember many days and nights of sitting there and having to lie straight to the customer in regards to when they would have the system either installed, fixed or have there additional equipment put in all because the technicians simply wanted to go home and they didnt feel like going to this customers home.
The sad part is the supervisors allow the tech's to do it. And then you have your tech's who simply only want to make X amount of dollars for the day and thats it then they wish to go home. The whole time the customer is left high and dry, and because of that I have been yelled at, cussed at, threatened and everything else under sun by these customers who are being screwed over like this.
Well here is where my stupidity comes in I decide to get a dish system and well I figure HEY I worked for these guys they will hook me up and not give me a quick and shitty install. WELL was I EVER wrong, everytime the wind blew or it rained or snowed I lost service, cable may be higher but its ALOT more dependable. Now here it is 1 month before the end of my contract and after having rounds with them the only option I have for compensation is to be able to buy out my contract which gives me a 10.00 discount over paying the rest of the month.
Boy talk about customer appreciation, so in closing STAY AWAY FROM DISHNETWORK AT ALL COST they are as crooked as anyone in regards to this at least my cable company is there within 48 hours 72 at the absolute most if there is a problem with the service.
Unlike these people where the average wait time is a week if not 2.

Collection agencies should "Get the facts" ..just a modern form of red-tape bullies trying to get your money for someone else
AUTHOR: Chase - (U.S.A.)

Since Rich so eloquently said "As far as mischarges I cannot comment because of a lack of facts...", I think we should all consider this... collection agencies DON'T have the facts, they're just a modern form of red-tape bullies trying to get your money for someone else - I think it's safe to say most of us here WANT to pay our bills and will do everything possible to (provided the FACTS are straight and the bill is legitimate). Unfortunately, these collection agencies don't have the facts when they damage our credit (as Rich mentioned) - maybe someday governmental regulation will see fit to change this (putting most of the collection agencies out of business). Civil suit against the company that fraudulently hired the collection agency are what can solve this. Liability seems questionable on the collection agency as well if they don't have the FACTS.

Collection Agencies suck
AUTHOR: Ric - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, September 16, 2004
Personally, I would want to blow up all collection agencies. I understand that if you owe money, you should be obligated to pay it. And it is motivation to pay your bills if they show up on your credit reports. But why should people pay the collection agency if the collection agency doesn't agree to take it off your credit report? It's punishment enough not to qualify for credit during the period of the deliquency, but why should someone suffer for 7 years EVEN if they pay the full balance. That's a crock of bull. I personally have 5 collections accounts. I am waiting on 2 more to be reported as "charged off as bad debt." This ensures that they will get some of the money back in tax breaks. BUT save me from being a priority on their collections. That way, in a year or so I can be in a better position to negotiate with the collection agency, without the fear of them trying to get legal recourse. If the collection agency doesn't agree to negotiate with me "i'll pay you if you take this off my credit report" then I will tell them to go to hell, and wait for the statue of limitations on debts to kick in. That way, I legally won't owe the debt anymore. Plus, since I don't owe the debt, legally the neg entry has to be taken off my report! HAHAHAHAHAHA. So, in closing, the collection agencies might get the first laugh, but a common saying "he who laughs last, laughs the best!" HAHAHAHAHAh. So they either be nice and agree to do a manual bulls-eye on the neg entry, or they can watch their beloved account vegetate, and no money out of it. Personally I think it is a win win situation. I win by getting my credit cleared up, they win by getting their money. It's NOT a win-lose situation where they get their money and i'm still left with a damaging entry. And if any collections specialists disagree with my philosophy, they can go rot in hell. For those who believe me, I commend you and the good job you do with actually treating people who owe money like humans.

Pay Your Bill, Obey Your Service Agreements
AUTHOR: Rich - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, September 16, 2004
When you signed on to use Dish Network service you agreed to a $240.00 early termination fee. Your service agreement or 'contract' states this in BOLD type. The agreement that you signed not only states this clearly but has you initial next to and sign below this paragraph. At no point did Dish ever force you into a binding contract. Also you should understand that they are a business and as a business try to make money. If you offered a service and someone agreed to use your service for an agreed period of time you will charge for loss of income. As far as mischarges I cannot comment because of a lack of facts but never in my 2 yrs with AFNI, which is a legitimate company, is still in business. That's why we can still report to your credit report. So if you are going to complain about your bills in collections make sure you have all of your facts and the next time you complain, refrain from it and let someone explain.

My credit have been permantly damaged due to a $622 balance due to the collection agency, Anderson Fin Network I. I never knew I owed any money until my application for credit was denied. I went on line and ordered a copy of my credit report and I saw the problem. My major concern is that I did not apply for credit during the time the account was open.

I also have been a victim. I checked by Credit Report and I had a collection acct by Anderson Financial. I called Dish to get their number. They did not know their number. I was told that I owed a balance of $346.00 and that I needed to send it in. I was also told that they did not know if it would be taken off my credit report.
They told me I could get phone number to Anderson out of the yellow pages. Anderson is out of business. Called Dish back, they said I owed $600.00 In 15 minutes my balance increased $254.00.

dish network disconected me and said I owed for programing, but when I asked for a record of my account to show where my advance pmt for programing was applied I received no response only a letter from anderson fin. network (collections) I was willing to pay the bill If they could prove to me I owed it, but only received a statement of amount due.this all was quite sometime ago but still shows on my credit report with experian. I have filed a letter of dispute and experian says they contacted anderson and although the bill shows paid (which I didn"t pay) the credit report still stands.my question is if anderson is no longer in buisness who did experian contact? and who do I contact to get this B.S. off my report. I'm sick of paying high intrest rates on my home because of these theving people. I was also ripped by conti mortgage-fairbanks capital. I am now a disabled logger and I have always worked hard and done things the christian way but I can't seem to get away from these devils.

My situation is very similar to yours. I have reported them to the FTC. You should do the same - Call 1-877-382-4357 to report Dishnetwork to the FTC. When you call, select the option to get more information/file a complaint - you will be connected with a representative that takes your statment and begins the investigation. They will also assist you in dealing with the credit bureaus. If you find an attorney, have them contact Rip-off Report, they will make arrangements to work with the lawyers to have all us victims contact the lawyers on this case..
