While picking up moving supplies at a U-Haul, I spotted a brochure on moving help by a firm "emove.com". On the front was a picture of smiling faces loading a U-Haul. On the back were glowing 5-star testimonials of the superb service provided. I was moving myself, so I needed loading help. I logged onto their site, checked out the descriptions of the "Moving Helpers" in my area (local independent or small businesses) and selected the lowest priced one. He was just getting started with emove, so had no customer ratings (a red flag). I provided a credit card for payment and called the number listed. I spoke to a man named Rom and gave the date of my move.
On "moving day", I called Rom's number and got his voicemail. As the moving truck arrival time grew closed, I called again, and still got the voicemail. Although I left urgent pleas for a callback, I never heard from the guy.
Fortunately, I acquired emergency loading help from some apartment workers, at great additional expense.
I called eMove and explained my bad experience; the representative said my credit card would be refunded "except for $5.95", which, if I filled an online review of my "Moving Helper", would also be refunded. As hard as I tried, I could not find the link to the review site, to evaluate my Moving Helper.
Because of my terrible Moving Day experience and the unsatisfactory support provided by eMove, I would not recommend using them.

Hiring with a Common Sence Approach

AUTHOR: DML - ()

POSTED: Sunday, March 30, 2014

I have used this same service as well. I own a business that is constantly needing last minute help for our vanlines. The system is set up to choose by price, performance, and experience. It kind of a short cut for getting bids from different local companies. That being said, here is what you did wrong.

1. Give yourself at least a 2 day OMG window when moving, because things come up and derails plans all the time. The more time you have the less stress.

2.Choosing a contractor off of price alone? No reputation?

You get what you paid. And in this case you got to get your money back so you paid nothing. Next time dont try to save $5-10 dollars and get one of the companies with a good reputation. No headaches

3. Dig deeper.

Some of those contractors have an internet presence. Look up their reputation in the local search engine. This will accomplish 2 things. 1. You'll get a broader idea of how they handle their customers and 2. You can contact them directly and negotiate a lower price! Yay!

Well I know when most people move they tend to loose thier minds. I believe its up there with death, divorce and public speaking. But if you keep a cool head, make solid plans and backup plans, Things will usually work out well in the end.

Happy to help
