Do not buy a EPP (Extended Protection Plan) from Lowe's for a Riding Mower.

I wanted to change the factory assembled oil filter, it was so tight and it started to crush using the oil filter wrench. So I called Lowe's to pick it up and loosen the filter. 10 days later they picked it up and send somewhere far (the store people wouldn't tell me where it goes). After complaining that they are taking too long, 20 days later they delivered it.

The repair report showed they changed oil filter, air filter ( I had replaced this just before pick up), fuel filter, blades, and the belt For $299. However, the ticket showed only labor charges for $299, no cost for the parts! (I think by not braking down the parts and labor, the customer doesn't get the 35% discount on replacement parts according to EPP. Also, They don't give the 5% discount when you charged on the Lowe's credit card.)

The note I gave to the driver to turn in to the employee in charge of repair services was lost, and I repeated the problem over the phone to that employee. I said nothing about changing all those parts, I only wanted to loosen the factory installed oil filter, and to level the blades, one side was cutting shorter since I bought it, again factory installed problem, and the steering wheel was very hard to make turns. When the mower was delivered, the steering wheel problem was the same, not fixed.

So I figured I'll cancel the EPP. I called and talked to the supervisor of the plan, they would reimburse me the prorated amount, But minus what ever the costs that the plan already paid retroactively. In this case, in addition to the $299 plus tax I paid for maintenance that I did not authorize, I would have pay for the pick and delivery service covered by the plan once cancelled. She gave a figure like $190 to be deducted from the prorated reimbursement amount of $164. So not only I would not have any (wortless) plan coverage , but owe them another $30 plus or so.

Avoid their protection plans, it's written to screw consumers.
