So I have a problem with Orchard Bank. Orchard Bank goes after consumers who have little or bad credit. In my situation I had no credit so Orchard Bank approved me for one of their cards. I've had this card for about 4 years and have been pretty good with it. Well last month I was hit with the $79 annual fee and had pervious made a big purchase so I was over drawn. I contacted Orchard to see if they could work with me since I was a good customer and have had a good balance for years. Well first I was told by a CSR that the fee would have to stand and the two fee's assessed (late fee, over limit fee) would have to stand as well. After explaining my case I asked to speak with a manager, the manager got on the phone and begins to tell me that I could remove the fee if I close my account and pay off the balance before 30 days and they will credit back my annual fee. I agreed to this solution and asked if we could proceed with closing the account. The manager told me that she would have to put over too their account management department so I waited on hold and was transferred. When I got over there the new manager told me that the annual fee stands that the last person I talked too didn't understand their policy. I explained that this was a manager and that I was lead to believe that I would be taken care of. Long story short I'm negative on my account and I have late fee's assessed even after I spoke with a CRS manager and she assured me I would be ok.
Now I know there are people who will say "read your contract" or this is how a CC company works. I agree with you. It's the customer service that I'm upset with. I explained that I'm trying to pay off my account so I have a zero balance, then I want to close the account. Well the account management manager told me that she understands my problem but can not break policy.
The whole moral to my story is {DO NOT APPLY FOR AN ORCHARD BANK CC} HSBC should really take a closer look at their product and how Orchard Banks deals with customers and CC accounts.
