Shamrock Towing Nothing less than Extortion Columbus, Ohio

On October 2, 2009 I recently made a trip to Ohio State University to deliver a 10x12 roll of carpet, microwave, window insulation and food to my nephew at his apartment on North 4th st. I drove my brothers vehicle(Lincoln Navigator) because it is barely large enough to carry a 10 foot roll of carpet. The vehicle has a parking pass in it for the building since my nephew and 2 other room mates do not have a car. When the carpet was centered in the car from tailgate to front windshield, the pass must have been dislodged from the mirror.

We parked backwards to unload. We were in the apartment for 15 minutes. Upon returning, the vehicle was gone! Being three and a half hours from home, I nearly panicked. A student nearby said it had been towed much to her protest. I then called the landlord only to get voice mail. I walked ten blocks to the impound lot on Hamlett and discovered that there were no management personel there. Only an individual who rudely took cash only and could not help me connect with the owner of this "family owned business" When I did finally get the number (614-882-3555), the girl said there was nothing to be done and I would need proof of ownership, drivers license and $138.89 CASH ONLY.

I had to call the Columbus PD to get the rude grunt to allow me into the lot to get my wallet out of the car. The car was still unlocked with the window down. When we opened the car, the officer immediately saw on the floor the parking permit. The office girl over the phone refused to believe the officer had found the permit and insisted it had to be visible. I grabbed my wallet and went to begrudgingly pay the fee. Although the business card states Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash was the only form accepted. I felt violated and will attempt to take legal action to stop this company.
