My car was towed by Shamrock Towing.  It was parked in a lot that we had permission from the property manager.  My 71 year old mother was delivering cloths to my son during college move-in.

When my mother called the towing company and explained she had permission, the representative of Shamrock Towing refused to help. 

The representative of Shamrock Towing was asked to please contact the property manager (the towing companies client).  The representative of Shamrock Towing refuse.

The representative of Shamrock Towing was asked to contact her own manager.  She refused.

The representative of Shamrock Towing was asked her name.  She refused to answer the question five times.  On the 6th request she said her name was Bertha.  When asked her last name, she said Peggy.  She spelled the name.

My mother explained to the representative of Shamrock Towing that she was 71 years old, with a broken leg, and this was an emergency.  The representative accused my mother of lying about her age and leg (I am happy to provide a birth certificate, medical records, and a photograph of her at the lot).  She then hung up on my mother.

My mother called back, and asked the representative of Shamrock Towing again about how to get the car.  The representative of Shamrock Towing yelled I already told youcall back after
8:30 tomorrow!

My mother asked how she could get home, it was the middle of the night and she was stranded in a parking lot.   The representative of Shamrock Towing said Call a cab, lady, and hung up.

These are the main points. The conversations continued for over 30 minutes with the representative hanging up several times.

I then arrived, and reached the property manager.  He confirmed we had permission to park there without a permit during moving week.  He said this had been his standard agreement with the towing company for over 14 years. I called the towing company and asked for Bertha Peggy.  The representative answering said that was her.  I told her of my conversation with the manager and she accused me of lying. I asked her to call the manager herself, and she refused. I asked for her managers name.  She refused to give it.  I asked her to contact her manager.  She refused. The conversation ended with her hanging up on me.

I called the property manager back, and he placed a call to Shamrock Towing.  He then called me back to say he had cleared it up.  He apologized for the treatment, and said the car would be returned at no charge.  I just needed to call Shamrock for the arrangements.

I called Bertha Peggy to asker where to pick up the car.  She refused to give me the information.  I asked how I could get the information. She told me to call the office the following morning, and hung up on me.  I called her back, and she told me to look it up on the internet.  I asked how I was to do that, in the middle of the night, standing in a parking lot.  She hung up on me again.  I called her back, and she got very belligerent.  She accused us of lying and fabricating the existence of my 71 year old mother, and hung up again. 


I called the property manager back.  He called Shamrock Towing,  got the address, and called me back with the information.  It was an easy 1 mile walk down the street, but we spent over an hour getting abuse from the representative of Shamrock Towing to get the information.  Fortunately I was there.  The 1 mile walk would be harder for my 71 year old mother with a broken leg.  I contacted campus police, and they stayed with my mother while I got the car. 

At the lot, they confirmed I could have the car at no charge.  They gave me a receipt to sign, which I did.  It was in triplicate.  I handed it back and waited for my copy.  The attendant refused to give me a copy of what I signed.  I informed him that he had to give me a copy of a document, if he required me to sign it to get my car.  He called someone, a female from the sound of the voice on the phone, and she told him not to allow me to have a copy.  I asked him his name, and he refused to give it.  I asked who he had spoken to, and he refused to give me that name.  He said he would help where he could, but was under instructions not to allow me to have a copy of what I had signed sign. He then allowed me out to my car, and I left.

I did look around the car in the lot, and it appeared okay.  However it was very dark in the lot, and close to midnight.  When I got home, I saw there was damage to the front passenger door of the car.  It appears the car rubbed against something during the towing, causing scratches in an area about 5 x 8.  This is a new car, without a single defect anywhere else on the body of the car.
