Sirius Satellite Radio $50 rebate ripoff New York New York

For Valentine's Day (2006)I purchased a SIRIUS Satellite radio from Best Buy in Columbia, MD with the intent of receiving $50 back from the mail-in rebate from SIRIUS. Best Buy printed an additional receipt with instructions about a mile long.

I followed the instructions to a tee and made sure that I missed nothing. I mailed in my rebate within the allotted time and within 4-6 weeks I received a postcard that stated that my rebate was declined because I "An acceptable original or copy of a valid ESN/SID barcode was not submitted".

I called right away and told the representative that I included everything that was requested on the rebate instructions, I even cut codes off of the box and sent them in as well. I was told after holding for several minutes at a time that until they got that number I would not get my rebate. As I explained to them this must have been a ghost number or request because it was not asked for on the instructions.

I had heard stories of rebates being rejected from the store if all the information was not submitted which is why I made sure everything was. I was extremely angry with SIRIUS and chose to leave this matter a lone and accept my loss. However, after reading that SIRIUS had ripped off others I was determined to tell my story and attempt AGAIN to get the rebate I was promised.

Clearly SIRIUS has a habit of promoting rebates only to not honor them. This is unacceptable and SIRIUS should be held accountable to those they've fooled into buying their products. It is evident that though I followed the rules SIRIUS did not and changed them at will. It is because there is no one to answer to that they feel they are allowed to treat consumers in this matter. There ought to be a law, a Federal Law!
