I was a loyal Sprint PCS customer for seven years. The service was fine when I lived in central Illinois and Chicago. When I moved to Northwest Indiana, I figured I could continue with Sprint. But I found that I just couldn't get adequate cellular service. I just couldn't get enough "bars" to complete a phone call with it cutting out. I often missed phone calls coming in.

My work depends on me having access to returning emergency pages. I asked around the area, and everyone I asked, even cellular phone dealers, stated the Sprint was unreliable in the area. I was given recommendations for either Cingular or Verizon.

I called Sprint to get out of my contract, and they refused, stating that according to the map of the service area, I should have cellular service. I tried completing my complaint on my Sprint PCS phone, as I was standing outside my house in the middle of the street, and of course, I experienced a drop call! They said I could purchase the "roaming" feature, but of course, I had to extend my contract for another year.

I would have paid the money to get out of the contract, but I had been roped into getting 2 free phones added to my account, where NONE of the representatives had explained that this would extend my service agreement for an additional year from the time each free phone was added. So in order to cancel, I would have to pay for 3 phones to be cancelled, which would have been $450.00. The customer service representative told me he would send out a technician to the area to check the cellular service.

I asked him to send him to my home so I could show him how I didn't get cellular service to my high-end Samsung phone. He said he was scheduled to come out in three days. No one showed up. He was just sick of talking to me and wanted to get me off the phone.

Hindsight, I should have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.

wanna know why you got the charges reversed?
Its cheaper to settle a lawsuit then to go to court.
BUT it doesn't work every time.

As to the original complaint
I hate to keep repeating my self on this point. but it bears repeating,
No matter the carrier, i guarantee you there is a clause about not guaranteeing coverage, EVER, in the contract. this means that you may not have coverage consistently at any time, and you may experience dropped calls, loss of service, no service, etc. and it does and will happen.
as long as there is fair, meaning there is coverage but its not that great, you're still receiving service, unless you can demonstrate and address that you reside in that has no coverage what so ever, your are bound by the terms of the contract.
Oh and it'll be 600+tax to cancel the service, not 450 under current guidelines

And as this site states, BBB membership is bought, not earned. Think they really are going to go after their bread and butter, think again.

Fight back SPRINT

AUTHOR: Randy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 02, 2007

I too had problems with Sprint. My solution: I wrote a letter addressed to the legal department (I got the address from customer service refusing to tell them why I wanted it) with the heading NOTICE BEFORE LAWSUIT. I explained my problem and how customer service was of no help. I stated they breached their contract with me by not providing consistent cellular service and wanted a judge in small claims court to hear my complaint.

I wanted my last moth's bill and all early cancellation fees waived and a refund of my deposit. I stated I would give them 14 days to respond and then I would file the paperwork for the lawsuit.

I sent this letter certified with proof of delivery (make a copy).

Three days later their corporate office called me and agreed to all my demands without any talking about the problem.

Try it, it might work for you. Good luck.
