After many attempts of making my car payments online, sending checks in the mail, month after month, Suntrust saying they never recieved it ontime and countless late fees, an employee of the Regency Branch in Jacksonville told me to use the night drop box. She told me that they would retrieve the check the next morning and process it on time. Great. I dropped my check as instructed into the box. I waited and watched my account , and moneys were taken out of my Regions Bank account. 10 days later I start getting phone calls saying that I need to make my payment. I told them I did and said they would investigate. The phone calls came to me at work constantly. I told them to stop the harrasment that I had made the payment. I went into the branch and they all but called me a liar stating that they didnt think I actually dropped it in and that I may have been mistaken. They asked me to give another check. Since this had happened not once but twice before , I refused and told them to find the check. After about 6 weeks and constant calls to me, I gave them another check. 6 1/2 months later, with no announcement to me, they cashed the original check. I went to the branch and the manager did not want to talk to me. There was no apology and when I asked for fees to be returned to me they told me that this was not a Suntrust Policy. I have been burned for many, many late fees, harrassed and I feel treated disrespectfully by this bank. Be warned, if you are borrowing money for a car or anything else, no matter what a deal it looks like at the time, run as fast as you can the other way from this bank. They are heartless theives that are screwing people over.

The original check that was put in the night drop box was not cashed until 6 1/2 months later. I replaced the original with another after about 6 weeks of their constant phone calls. They cashed the original without letting me know 6 1/2 months later.

I didnt cancel the check , as I know I should have, due to the fact that it would have cost me another $30.00 in fees from my bank along with the already added late fee from Suntrust of $30.00 . I am unfortunately one of the working class people that live pay to pay with nothing to spare, so that little bit of money means a lot to me. I went online and printed off a copy of the original check and took it to the branch and showed them that 6 1/2 months had passed since the check had been put into the night drop box. I told them that I wanted to know where that check had been all of this time . They told me they would look into it but I have never received an answer.

You first stated that you made the payment by check and the money was taken out of your Regions Bank Account. But later you say that this original check was "cashed" 6 1/2 months later. Just how was it cashed again if the money was already gone from your account?
The only way the money would have been taken out when you first dropped it off is if SunTrust submited the check. Did you try to get a copy of that check to show that it was paid?

Why wasn't the original check that the bank claims was lost, canceled? I ask this because when you re-write a check to cover a lost one, the old one is supposed to be cancelled in case it was stolen or found later and someone attempts to cash it, which it seems this bank actually did. Even if you overlooked this, the bank should not have.
And when they finally found the check they lost and cashed it, what is the date on the check? You should be able to find a copy online, or go to the bank and they should print it out for you. They may charge a fee for this as well, but if it helps your case it is worth it.
I ask this because it could help prove your case, and even though the bank may claim too much time has passed for them to do anything, if it ends up the reason it took too much time is the fault of the bank, they legally have to make good, which would include returning all fees associated.
