My complaint is that TMobile took out funds from my checking account without prior authorization to do so. I was notified today, Sunday, November 25th, via a text message.
I immediately called them about this matter. I was speaking with an agent who, after speaking with me, realized that he needed to direct me to his supervisor.
Apparently, when I paid my bill last month using the automated, I was asked, after paying my bill using my debit card, if I wanted to retain my credit card information for future payments. I replied "yes" since it is convenient to have your card on file when you pay some bills. Well, TMobile used this as permission to access my checking account to pay my bill. When speaking to the supervisor, (Grace), I told her that at no time did TMobile speciically state that they would take automatic drafts out of my account. The automated never said anything like this. I explained that my bank will charge an overdraft fee, since this transaction overdrafted my account. Plus they will charge a fee for every day that my account is overdraft. I get paid one time per month, and the next time I am paid will be this coming Friday, and I will not be able to cover the overdraft until then. The supervisor told me that their policy is to put the money back into my account from 1-3 business days, and that TMobile will pay for the overdraft plus daily bank fees, plus (and I ask for this) any fees related to inconvenience. I am a teacher, I will have to take 1/2 day off to go to the bank and try to explain to them what happened. So I guess they will pay me 1/2 day of teaching which is about $150.00. Not to mention that this will be on record at the bank now, so when a creditor calls or pulls records from the bank in reference to how I hold my accounts, this NSF will be on there. I feel this is totally wrong.
The bottom line is that the automated message in no way indicates that saying "yes" to "storing" your account number for future payments is NOT the same as asking the customer if you want to use this account for monthly automatic payment! I am furious, and intend to write a letter to the CEO of this company if I can find the name of someone and the address to write the letter. I noticed that they are very secretive about giving out the names of their CEOs and VPs who I would want to direct the letter to. If anyone can give me this information, I would really appreciate it since I know I am not the only customer this has happened to.
