I received my paycheck auto deposited into my Chime spending account. Four minutes after the deposit, $1,817.00 was hacked from my account. I was on the phone to Chime only minutes later, but there was no sense of urgency at all. There is only one phone number to Chime, but it's to their customer service, which is out of country. The reps are well rehearsed on what to say, but they have no idea how to help you. The money was stolen from the "Pay Friends" portion of the app.

You don't get any updates about the status, and you don't get a spot amount to use during their investigation, well, so called investigation. If you visit the Chime website you will see FDIC Insured everywhere, but immediately it claims, through Bancorp Bank. This gives the customer, well it did me, a false sense of relief thinking your money is protected, but it's not. If you call Bancorp Bank, they can't help Chime customers. As of the time of this writing, I have occurred hundreds of dollars in late fees, for bills I can't pay.

My wife needs medications for her medical issues, but there's no money for that. The food is running low, and my little one only has a few diapers left. My car just went on empty, but I need to go to work. My auto insurance (as of today) just cancelled, because I was not able to pay the 115.00 ($35.00 of which is a late fee), my mortgage is way past due ($50.00 late fee there), my HOA is way past due ($10.00 late fee there).

My utilities is due on the 23rd, but I have no idea how to pay them. I am the only income in my household, due to my wife's medical condition. We were forced to file bankruptcy earlier in the year, but this put us back more than can be imagined. Hell, even the papers faxed today to the FDIC cost 17.00.

I am not sure what happens in a week from now. With all that mentioned, Chime couldn't care less, and you can't talk to anyone, because they only have that one number, that directs you overseas. It is also important to point out that the paycheck that was taken included 30 plus hours of overtime; my checks are not usually that much.
