Have you ever called your credit card customer service to try to change your phone number on your account, and their customer service transferred you to the fraud department where people in foreign countries answer the phone and lie about everything and then claim you are not the account holder? Sounds crazy, Right?  Well this is what Citibank Credit Card company did to me.  I was trying to make a online purchase which required that a security code be sent to my phone but here is the problem, I changed my number three days ago and I forgot about telling the Credit Card Company.  So when the transaction kept saying to send the code to my old phone number, I tried changing my number on the website and also on my Citibank online account.  The transaction still would not go through so I decided to call Citibank Customer Service who never told me that this woud take 48 hours.  Then they transferred me to the Fraud Department that immediately lied and said that I was not the account holder.  My God people are stupid sometimes.  All of our personal information and customer service is now in a foreign country.  Those foreigners have the power to change your account, and block you and that is exactly what they did.  I am a good customer with excellent credit and never miss a payment, but I was treated like a criminal by Citibank Fraud dept and Customer Service.  They blocked my card and they blocked me from seeing any transactions on my account for the past two months.  I have filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau which will do nothing but send it straight to Citibank.  I am going to pay off the card and kick them to the curb where they belong.  I even had to close my bank account after the same foreigners blocked my atm card.  Im now with an American Credit Union and Americans answer the phone and they have assured me that they will never use foreigners to answer their phones.  That is a relief.  My advice is to go online and look up every business and there are complaints about them on this website or any consumer website, do not do business with them.  I almost had the Wells Fargo card and I immeditately closed the card due their lies and fraud.  I read online what they were doing to people. I wish I could form a list of bad companies and we could just check and if their bad we just move on and never do business with them.  Citibank does not have a good reputation either.  They have been sued by their shareholders and many other people.  They never learned their lessons.  So they have lost my business

Yes it is Fraud when you have an account with citibank and you are the cardholder and they lie

You act like it was fraud on my part.  NO.  Citibank has no business sending me to the fraud department and then ignoring that I am the account holder, giving them my social, my address, and other information to identify myself.  Then they block me from my account?  What are you talking about?  Would you like to do business that way?  I think not.  And by the way the account is still blocked and I paid off the balance.  I will not be doing business with them

I know you didn't get what you wanted but consider this was actually for your protection. Should they have allowed you to change the phone number right before a purchase opend the card to fraud. You change the number, they verify it and then your purchase is secure. If you lose your card and someone finds it. They try to make a purchase than requires verification. They call the number on the back of the card and say here's my new number and run your card to the limit.

Inconvient, for you, yes,

Fraud by them, No. Actually doing their job protecting the card.

And NO, I do not work for the company.
