Response from W.F. and my reply / False advertising of $300 bonus to open new account.  After a horrible experience at Wells Fargo, I sent them an email explaining (in detail) the untruths and unprofessional behavior of this bank. The response from Wells Fargo did not address ANY of my concerns that were included in my original complaint. In fact, the "executive resolution person" who was assigned to my case did not even speak to the individuals involved in the matter. Instead, this "executive" stated that the district manager "researched" the situation, and incorrectly advised her that I closed the account and did not qualify for the $300 bonus.

Both claims are absolutely UNTRUE. They are lying about what really happened and misrepresenting the facts. They have created their own "alternative" facts which is so common these days. Simply stated, Wells Fargo is covering-up this incident by inventing outrageous untruths.

Major falsehood: The bank claims that I closed the account, when in fact, a frantic branch manager rushed over to where I was sitting (with the loan officer) and commanded him to close the account. She sternly instructed him to write a cashier's check to me for the $5,000 direct deposit received.

The branch manager did not say one word to me. She was too intent (and intense) on instructing the loan officer to close the account.

In their response, it states, "Our research has also confirmed the $5,000.00 wire that posted on May 17, 2024, did not qualify. To qualify for the $300.00 bonus, a total of $1,000 or more in qualifying electronic deposits to the new account." This response is absolutely absurd since I sent the qualifying electronic funds for $5,000 by direct debit that cleared the day before my appointment. Lie, lie, lie.

All requirements for receipt of the $300 bonus were adhered to, and please note: the bank does not explain why the $5,000 was not "qualifying funds." The truth is, I complied with all the requirements that were needed to receive the bonus. Just as they lied about how my account was closed, they ommited any rational explanation as to why my $5,000 did not "qualify." Why didn't the funds qualify? Wells Fargo did not answer that question except they included some fuzzy language about direct debits. I had sent the funds vis direct debit! All instructions were followed perfectly and the $5,000 direct debit had cleared. They have no excuse for not paying the $300 bonus that I was entitled to according to their ubiquitous advertising.

The rest of the bank's response is "standard language" that's used in boilerplate letters - it says nothing and means nothing.

The most glaring issue that was conveniently not addressed was: Why did the branch manner act in such an irrational manner? Why didn't she introduce herself and explain why she was closing my account? It was without discussion that the branch manager took it upon herself to close the account and refund my $5,000 direct debit. In my 40 years in business, I have never met a branch manager who was so abrupt, rude, dismissive, non-communicative and lacking in people skills.

Several other complaints about this branch manager are posted in reviews that include many of the same descriptive words above. She is obviously the wrong person for this important position, and sorely needs to be retrained and learn how to be a professional. Her immature behavior is inexcusable, and her impulsive attitude exemplifies her inexperience and lack of decency.

Once again, Wells Fargo is living up up to its well-known reputation of being the most dishonest bank in their industry. They are still the same Wells Fargo that was sued and indicted by the Federal Trade Commission and had to pay $3.3B to settle their case in 2021.

Please rest assured that my complaint will be sent to the FL Attorney General, the FTC, and the The OCC, which charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks and federal savings associations as well as bank branches and foreign banks.

Ashley Hawthorne remains unpunished Wells Fargo banned me because of Ashley Hawthorne baseless harassment accusations which is what she wanted

AUTHOR: Kathy - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, June 22, 2025

Why does Wells Fargo want to keep Ashley and Chas Hawthorne employed. After the cruel hate slur she called my son. Why don’t you take your mentally retarded son back in your home. The consumer protection bureau is still protecting this criminal bank. Ashley Hawthorne has gotten away with embezzlement. There is no way on a manager salary she can afford to update their house and bathroom. When she started working for Wells Fargo in 2011. They started to update their bathroom. She claims to worked at Wells Fargo in 2004. But their friends told me she worked at total systems. Ashley Hawthorne continues to escape accountability for her actions, which ultimately led to my unjust ban from Wells Fargo. It was her unfounded harassment accusations that seemingly orchestrated this outcome, aligning perfectly with her intentions all along. The bank claims that their decision to close my checking account was lawful and without malice, but I believe otherwise. I am firmly convinced that Ashley Hawthorne exerted her influence over them, prompting their involvement in this situation. Her actions have highlighted a troubling flaw in their processes. Looking back, I find myself questioning the rationale behind Wells Fargo allowing me to open a checking account in the first place. Their decision to terminate my account has, in my opinion, resulted in a severe violation of my civil rights. Although they may attempt to downplay it as a mere banking issue, I see it as a significant breach of my entitlements as a consumer and individual. This situation transcends banking, encompassing matters of personal rights and dignity. Additionally, Ashley Hawthorne's actions extended beyond mere words; she made a purposeful effort to involve law enforcement by falsely reporting to the Phenix City police. This act was no coincidence; she deliberately positioned herself at the bank, ensuring that the staff was aware of her presence and grievances. The question now arises: why would Wells Fargo associate with employees like Ashley and Chas Hawthorne, who seem to prioritize personal agendas over ethical conduct? Their affiliation raises further concerns about the integrity of the institution and the values it upholds.

Wells Fargo wasn’t exercising they’re right to close my moms checking account until Ashley Hawthorne falsely accused my mom of harassing her

AUTHOR: Charles - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, May 26, 2025

Ashley and Chas Hawthorne made a series of false and damaging statements regarding my mother while she was employed at Wells Fargo, which unfortunately resulted in severe and negative repercussions for her. This situation began to unfold when we visited the Phenix City branch of the bank. Upon our arrival, we were met with disapproving stares from all the employees present, as Ashley Hawthorne had made unfounded accusations that my mom was harassing her. To exacerbate matters, Ashley even enlisted the help of another employee from Wells Fargo to accompany her to the police department in order to file harassment charges against my mother. However, this particular issue is primarily a banking matter—one that Brooklyn Davis, an employee at Wells Fargo, has asserted is a civil matter rather than a criminal one. Another concerning aspect is that Ashley Hawthorne had unauthorized access to my mother’s checking account, which directly contributed to the chaotic situation my mother found herself in. It is undeniable that this is indeed a banking matter. Additionally, Brooklyn Davis claimed that Wells Fargo did not engage in any wrongdoing when they closed both my mother's checking account and my own, which left us with no options for seeking compensation for the damages and pain and suffering. That my mother suffer because of Ashley Hawthorne actions. The slanderous remarks made by Ashley Hawthorne regarding my mother’s alleged harassment not only severely tarnished her reputation but also unfairly led to her being ostracized from the bank where she has held her accounts. This unjust treatment had a far-reaching impact on her ability to access essential banking services, leading to significant stress and frustration as she struggled to navigate the consequences of their actions. It is truly disheartening to witness how unfounded accusations can result in such harsh and detrimental outcomes, effectively punishing someone without any substantial basis in truth. My mother, who has always conducted herself with the utmost integrity, became an unfortunate victim of their malicious intent, suffering significantly from the fallout of being wrongfully ostracized from the very institution where she has diligently maintained her accounts over the years.

Disregard the aggressive tactics of those who advocate for businesses; they tend to back criminal bad unethical companies

AUTHOR: Charles - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 10, 2025

Disregard the aggressive tactics of those who advocate for businesses; they appear to back unethical companies. For years, I have faced relentless attacks for uncovering the truth about Ashley and Chas Hawthorne, who have falsely accused my mother of harassment. Ashley Hawthorne also caused my mom. To lose her checking account. By falsely accusing her to Wells Fargo dane chambers. Wells Fargo refused to punish Ashley Hawthorne. Yet Brooklyn Davis and others who responded to my mom’s complaints. Always said please let us know if anything else happens. Yes this was a banking matter and a civil rights violation. My mom’s civil rights was violated. Wells Fargo refused to listen to our side of the story. This troubling situation began in 2012 and has persisted for a grueling 13 years, affecting our lives profoundly. Ashley Hawthorne once called me a repulsive name, suggesting that my mother should take her "mentally retarded son@ back to her house, implying that I somehow lacked the right to be outside on my own property. It is important to note that Ashley Hawthorne did not contribute to paying my mother’s bills or taxes, and therefore, she had no authority to issue orders regarding my presence in my own home. For over a decade, Ashley Hawthorne has made my mother's life unbearable. The police and the corrupt judge in Phoenix City have failed to consider the hateful slurs directed at me, further complicating our plight and extending the duration of our suffering.

The rest of the story

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 12, 2024

You are leaving something out. Bank Managers do not run over to random employees and order them to close out accounts of customers and issue a cashier check unless they have a good reason.  And no it isn't just because they don't like you or don't want to give you any bonus.

The deposit terms seem quite clear.
https://accountoffers.wellsfargo.com/checkingoffer/?msc=checking-offer&product_code=CHK&subproduct_code=RC&sub_channel=SEM&vendor_code=G&collateral_code=24_Always+On_CSBB_24CBDDAQ_BRN_KT_COM_Promo&dm=300+bonus+wells+fargo&gclid=CjwKCAjwjqWzBhAqEiwAQmtgT6NS5LR5pwsICEy2uj-Nwwz4t8dsc3oGIChX5zqNojFVQ7MfwGGjmhoCtcoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

A qualifying electronic deposit is a deposit of funds, such as your salary, government benefit payment, or other income, that has posted to your account and is (1) a direct deposit made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, (2) an instant payment processed through the RTP® network (real-time payment system) or FedNowâ„  Service, or (3) an electronic credit from a third party service that facilitates payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network (e.g., an Original Credit Transaction). Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, Zelle®, or deposits made at a branch or ATM are not considered a qualifying electronic deposit.

If you read the rest of the terms you don't even get the bonus until about 30 days after you
have had the account open for 90 days.
