I recieved a bill from this company on July 23rd for $44.55. It stated that I had made a call on July 20th at 12:19 pm PMT. That is 2:19 PM CDT. There was no one home at the time, my wife and I were at lunch at the time.
I called the company and disputed the call. They sent me a letter with a copy of a "switch report" stating the call was made from my house. I called them back and told them what was going on. They told me that tough, our report says you made the call, pay in 10 days or we will report you to the credit agency and it will go on your credit report. I talked to a supervisor and he was as rude, telling me that someone must have broken into my house and used the phone.

I have since called the Federal Trade Commission and filed a report with them. They were very helpful. They told me to send a Certified Letter, Return Reciept to the company staing that the call was not made from my house and that if they persist in this bill and make a report to a credit bureau than I would be able to sue them under the Fair Credit Reporting Act about fraudulant information.

Bottom line is Contact THE FTC 1-877-382-4357 and make a report.

900 Direct services thousands of 900 number calls monthly, bills and collects for these calls. 900 Direct bills all 900 calls directly to the consumer and not through the consumer's local phone company or long distance carrier. All bills sent to consumers are based on legitimate data collected by 900 Direct's telecommunications equipment when a call is received. This data reconciles with 900 Direct's carrier's (the company who tranports the calls to 900 Direct)records in over 99.5% calls.
