Allstate Insurance Company ripoff dishonest of insurance coverage Northbrook Illinois

On September 18th my husband bought a new van. He called the allstate 800# to add the van to our policy. He spoke to a gentlemen on the phone after doing all the changes to our policy he told the gentleman that we had a payment due on the 20th and asked if he could make the payment over the phone. He said not to make the payment until we got our new policy in the mail with the new bill. So we did not make the payment.

On September 30th my husband got into a car accident with the van and two other cars. My husband called Allstate to report the accident and file a claim. After two days of fighting with them they finaly told us that they were denying our claim because we did not pay our September 20th payment and our insurance was cancelled.

We told them that their customer service rep told us not to because we made changes to our policy and to pay the amount that was due on the new bill.

Now my husband is stuck with a van we just bought and have not made the first payment on it yet and he can't drive it. He is also responsible for the other two cars that were involved in the accident because he was the last car. So now we are stuck trying to fix our car. We are also responsible for the other two cars because we are considered drivers that did not have insurance coverage when we thought we did. He was also the last car.

Just to top it off we received our new policy in the mail two days later. It said here are the changes you made to your policy on September 18th and they take affect on September 20th. How about that thrown in your face?

We tried to get a lawyer to help us but he said it could cost my husband to lose his driver license and we can't afford that right now. He a sub contractor for a company so without his van he can not work that much unless he rides along with some one to do some work
