I am writing this complaint in regards to AIU University. I was a former student who was looking to receive my Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a Concentration in Healthcare Management. I too faced similar complaints with financial aid, unfair grading, and problems in general with staff/teachers, and not to mention a constant repeat of the same classes. I have documentation to support all the problems I faced with this school. I would like to get in contact with more students, staff, who was treated unfairly. I would also like to file a class action lawsuit against this school. Please contact me if you have or know someone that would like to start a class action lawsuit against this school.

If you are told you cannot take bathroom breaks when you need to, you simply go to HR and tell them your supervisor is creating a "hostile work environment". Those three words can work magic. I worked in the Beaverton call center for two and a half years, and many of the practices there by management were unsavory, to say the least. Things improved a good deal though by the time I left because I did things exactly like that. They made management toe the line much better afterward.

bathroom breaks/unfair treatment of aiu employees (temp employee)

I am interested in filing a class action lawsuit against this organization.
They refused to allow me the privilege of using the bathroom when I needed to use
the bathroom, put quite simply, I was not allowed to go pee when I needed to.
I was told by one of the team leaders that "we are not allowed to use the restroom during the first hour of the shift, when we arrive, until the last hour of our shift,
noting these times as "power hours."
I am sorry folks! But nature is calling me now....I am going!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously...what kind of school would refuse an employee a bathroom break?
No One, unless.....you are shady
This is the call center in Beaverton OR
I was hired as a temporary through STAFFING NOW
Staffing Now hires temporary workers for this awful job.
They should be aware they could be also involved in this lawsuit

Former Employee Lifts Silence!

Last year, in 2007, I was hired at AIU-Online via a staffing agency in Schaumburg. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have taken the position. It is, like many disgruntled students and former employees, a diploma mill and sales position. I was hired based on the fact that I held a BA degree and sounded intelligent when I read. Wow! That's all it took to work for that company. But I took the job because i needed the money at the time; If you were in my position you would've as well. ($17.50 per hour.)
The first four days consisted of 'training', which is basically reading off a script. If you wanted to learn how to act over the phone, this training is for you! And if you are a natural liar, you are great for the admissions advisors position! All through the 'training' they are telling you that you are helping people reach their academic dreams. In reality, you are basically a telemarketer. The funny thing is that the location that AIU Online is located at is not where call centers are located. Once you have 'completed training' they have you drive to your job site. Like I stated, mine was in Schaumburg. At first glance, it seemed like a decent place, until they told me you need a minimum of 150 dials(phone calls) per day. The interior is a call center down to the headphones you wear during calls. The DOA (director of admissions) I worked under believed they hype so much, he oozed it.
Day in and day out I had to psych myself up to come into the job site. I would listen to 'advisors' talk up a good game to 'prospective students' to get them to do '2nd interviews' and hopefully gain an enrollment. I also noticed the 'Boiler Room' attutude alot of the 'advisors' had. It sickened me! So, because I needed the money, I stayed the 3 months. I enrolled students on the basis that they wanted to further their careers, but I was also being told that their demographic were 'professional procrastinators'(demographic 25-34 yr olds, single parents, college drop outs, mothers, etc. not to mention I fit into their so-called demographic!) I was also told when I had a poor student who couldn't get the application fee together, I was told by Senior Advisors and the DOA to have her beg someone for the cash! Or better yet, sell blood! Inside, I felt horrible for the young woman.
Once a person gets a second interview, it is the same questions. You are told not to deviate from the script. Some of the script didnt even apply to the person you were talking to! Also, if you were breathing and could get a loan, you were admitted to the school. You could be deemed mentally retarded and someone would still enroll you! Supposedly, this is to maintain uniformity. Another thing was the people we were calling. I was told by several people that they had not requested the information or had but, it was 3 or 4 years ago! Most of the people I talked to had clicked on some web promo to gain information about online degrees, not to be harassed three times a day by 'advisors'. You don't sound like a higher learning facility, more like a telemarketer/bill collector! All tihe employees knew that the people we were calling did not request the infor, they were scammed into it. I know because I tested out their theory and I was right!
Not to mention the hours wasted sitting on your behind for 8 to 9 hours a day doing nothing but auto-dialer calls and being cohersed into getting enrollments because your job depended on it. When it came time for my contract to end, I was relieved! So, yes! AIU Online employees are not real advisors. during the SACS visits and probation, we were given these pamplets on what reccomendations the committee made so the school could 'keep' their accreditation. Not to mention, their accreditation is for brick campuses, not the online branch. Kind of like an unbrella accreditation. Heck, I even met the president of the Online branches. Yes, the school is a for-profit comapny. Do remember that. And I advise you to do your research in choosing an online degree program.

AIU Employees-prisoners of their cubicles!

If you work for AIU Online, be sure you use the bathroom BEFORE your shift starts...the rule is no potty breaks 1st hour or last hour of dialing! As previously stated by one employee there, "we are adults, we can hold it!" is this legal? Please advise! Thanks!
